There are so many different musical styles and tastes going on here, it really is good.

This song I first heard when 10. I like it because it talks about getting away from work. The way she sings is very natural and the overall sound is warm. The repeating bit at the end is terrific as I appreciate repetition and this also echo's the repetition of work. The 80's are big with the 20 year olds right now because...and the ending "far away in time" speaks of transcendancy.

As far as musicianship, I'd say my favorite musician in the world is les claypool. He's a bassist that creates, of the top of his head in most cases, the most unique, rythmic, and enjoyable music I've ever heard. He plays with another musician named buckethead sometimes, who never shows his face, and plays the fastest guitar I've ever heard in the same format as les claypool. every time the band that les makes gets even close to fame, he changes it up and forms a new one, with new musicians every time. He's fresh, even though he's like forty something, and he's silly as all get out which makes his music fun. If you haven't heard him, at least give him a shot, he's sure to get your foot tapping. Note the fact that he is in most cases an acquired taste, absorb his sound for a while, and allow yourself to adjust to his peculiar sound, then make up your mind.

If you want to check him out a little more look up the band "primus", or "colonel claypool's bucket of bernie brains" or "the fearless flying frog brigade", or "oddity fair" or "les claypool and the holy mackeral".

This is one I'm loving at the moment: 'Rock 'n' Roll Dream'. The words, or a least the chorus are sung not so clear, and this ambigiousness of word soundings I like as it allows me the listener to put my own interpretations on there, it's one of the reasons I like Nirvana so much. Deep water all around me. Pretty women gather round. You're the next in line. I could be in a rock n roll dream, it's talking to me, I'm singing and thinking that I'm in a rock n roll dream. Audience participation.

wow I've actually never payed any attention to the new ac/dc! good stuff fo sho! ;) Most would think that they have lost their touch, but I guess not, eh? ac/dc, nirvana, and Marilyn manson defined my idea of what rock and roll represents. I think it kinda means that we are all rock and roll stars in our way. kinda the working class hero type message, we're all as powerful as the next guy. You could free yourself and be a rock star if you really wanted to, you could be in a rock and roll dream.
Has anyone ever heard of buck 65? He's a canadian rapper that emphasizes emotional honesty, something that is downright shunned in the rap world. I never listen to rap, but buck 65, and another guy named saul williams are both the most refined lyricists I've ever heard.

That link is the reason I listen to nirvana, les claypool, what used to be the white stripes, tool, buck 65, and modest mouse. Anything that makes you feel, can be considered art. music, painting, kung fu, architecture, dance, etc. It makes you feel, because it is bringing you closer to that part of yourself that is warm, and full of movement. Art should bring you closer to the part of you that is alive. So, if music is art it should make you feel alive.

Yes - sorry I didn't say to your earlier post, but I like the Bruce Lee thing you say. When I'm painting I feel very much alive, I'm doing something that is totally my doing, so to speak. Creativity in all its forms is really important. That's one thing for sure about the human - S:he is a real creative genius, god damn look around. We don't seem to realise how creative we all are, it's totally built in to our nature. In a controlled society this fact would be played down I find.

What he talks about in the clip, those phonies: as J.D. Salinger might say - are all over the place these days.

yes it would definitely be played down. Art brings out what a person is on the inside. When that happens, that person becomes completely unique. It's a lot harder to control a bunch of individuals than just a bunch of the same thing...

If you don't mind - Art brings out what a person is on the inside, to be seen by people on the outside.

"If you don't mind - Art brings out what a person is on the inside, to be seen by people on the outside."
Is this a correction? It's a good one, I'm just wanting to know.

No not a correction, as I read your sentence I immediately thought of 'to be seen by people on the outside'. I wanted to say I hope you don't mind me adding to that sentence.

The Kills - Black Balloon

The Raconteurs - Level

Is it just me, or does The Beatles- I Want You have a sound not too dissimilar to Soundgarden's? [Especially 2 mins in]

this is Padma, i really like him. The song begins around 4:37 but its worth the wait imo, and what he talks about before the song is interesting too i think anyways. He has more music samples on his blog here and there, and on a little music player on the side. He recently had a brain clot and almost lost his life (&shares more about it on his blog), then moved from the city/London to live in the Spanish Pyrenees. He goes back and forth from there to London while sharing some of his thoughts, experiences, and music on his blog.
