Does it really matter, if the thread is interesting let it go.

BTW I have a BS in Industrial Arts, does that count? Also I was reading Will Durants 'Story of Philosophy' and watching Shakespeare in HS. In College I took Philosophy 101 and was explaining the difference between objectivity and subjectivity to a girl who stated that she intended to major in Philosophy, I thought that was a bit ironic.

I have a degree in ataraxia from university of woolamaloo.

I have read Kant and Nietzsche. Hobbs and Hume. Russel Confucius and the Buddha.
for is not philosophy the reading of other ideas?

One cannot have own unique ideas.. they are false.
You cant get a degree in philosophy if you do not
toe the line, like all ivory tower sects.

Why did Einstein INFURIATE the tower. He was a pleb.
that changed our world. Without permission of the tower.

God loves him. [a scientist and a philosopher]
I consider him one of the greatest human beings that have ever lived.
there are others.. and in time.. i'll posit them

If that is true then how do you explain the variety of philosophical positions offered by those with philosophy degrees?

You could probably obtain a degree by providing what is expected, i.e. an understanding of the arguments and concepts, without necessarily agreeing with them.

.
John

Do i think about what you think about?
NO

Those philosophical positions are human desire. The 'degree in philosophy'
is granted in western academia to those that had them first. only.

I have them 'ideas' Yet i'm last. and cannot be a lettered person no matter how valid my argument.
If i falsified a dozen philosophical positions..[my last count was 5]
I still could not be lettered.
Knowledge went out the window in 1500 bc
replaced by 'system'

a degree in philosophy is like a degree in UFO's

Einstein would have scorned your reference to god.

with Einstein's sense of humor I think scorn is to exaggerate. Either he would've joined it into a joke or he'd comment his view that Spinoza's god and not Michelangelo's god was his view on the matter. God as quality rather than person.

God is not 'quality' as quality is a limitation. God is Nature; all there is. Infinite not in the endless sense, but in the sense that is all inclusive. It is the universe and the organising laws that comprises it; necessary and absolute; not capricious, not personal, not intentional.
God cannot love, cannot have regard or consciousness.
You are probably right about his sense of humour; his scorn would have not gone further than wincing and raising his eyebrows.

Whatever suits you. Theology (or philosophy of religion) isn't my field.

I'll tell him that next time he gives me cancer again.

The point is that Spinoza/Einstein's God is not a person.

I think its obvious I know more about Einstein's version of God. I know plenty else about the other 100s of gods that humans dream of. How can you 'know about' a thing that does not exist?
