I have seen a surge in new philosophy related startups out there, trying to teach philosophy to the general public...must be unemployed philosophy profs, making their way in the world.
I see this as a good thing.
Philosophy should not just be for students, but for all
cuts in the teaching of philosophy are a good thing

Re: cuts in the teaching of philosophy are a good thing
You may be right but the cuts were done years ago. Interestingly enough its become an A-level subject so sometime I guess they might be re-employing some of the ones they sacked amd maybe bringing back pure Hons courses for the proles.
There is also a general increase in interest in the subject, I guess because the youth are questioning things again given the state of the economy, politics and religion. Good job too but maybe too late I think as the godbotherers are coming back with a vengence. Still, this time around we might actually get the militant atheists that they are currently whining about.
