No. You. What do YOU mean when you say it?

That's all you're being asked.

Anybody else who used the word can do it. But you can't?
No, what I was being asked by him is what my definition of it was.

Again, what I mean by dasein is encompassed in depth in these threads:

https://www.ilovephilosophy.com/viewtop ... 1&t=176529
https://www.ilovephilosophy.com/viewtop ... 1&t=194382
https://www.ilovephilosophy.com/viewtop ... 5&t=185296

Now, let him explain why that does not qualify as me describing what I mean by it.

Also, let's get back to this:

...give us your definition of "freedom" and "justice". Then take these definitions down out of the didactic/pedantic/spiritual clouds and integrate them into a specific context involving the moral and political conflagrations that revolve around things like abortion or guns.

Me, I'm willing to acknowledge that my own understanding of these words is rooted existentially, subjectively in my life experiences. And that others living very different lives, might construe them in very different ways. I don't have an objectivist font like his own True Christian God such that others will be judged regarding freedom and justice by him as he would argue God Himself will judge them at the Pearly Gates.

Now, watch Mr. Wiggle and Mr. Snippet do his thing in truncating and twisting my points into a pale imitation of what they really are.

No, I am not going to hunt through your inane ramblings, trying to read your mind. It's a waste of my time, and everybody else's as well, in addition to being impossible.

Everybody else can give a definition of "dasein." But that's because they understand it.

Clearly, you don't. You don't even know what you're talking about.

If I'm wrong, write your definition here:

Of course: back to square one:

Ah, back to a definition of dasein.

What's his?

Right.

No definition. You don't know what you're talking about whenever you say "dasein."

Well, that was the least surprising discovery in phiilosophical history. 8)

Come on, Mannie, grow a pair and actually respond to this...

Note to others:

Incredibly, he is not in the least embarrassed to post intellectual brain farts of this sort in a forum derived from Philosophy Now magazine.

Now, I contend that he ought to be embarrassed. Would anyone care to argue that he has nothing at all to be embarrassed about?

henry, perhaps?

Heh. :D Look who's talking about "no pair".

Well, I'll happily give you everything you would wish...just as soon as you provide your personal definition of "dasein."

C'mon, chuckles...let's see what you've got.

Naw...I know it's going to be nothing. 8)

Excruciatingly embarrassing let's call it.

Note to God:

I don't know if You exist or not, but I'm betting that if You do and it comes down to me or Mannie on Judgment Day, I get in and he does not. Otherwise, how could You yourself not be embarrassed. You provided us with a brain so I assume we were meant to use it. And using it honestly and introspectively has got to count for something with You.

Do you really want the likes of Mannie to be singing your praises up there? Wouldn't you prefer someone like me...someone who refused to accept Your existence until the evidence was such that he had no choice but to?

Give us a sign.
