Holistic Society

Holistic Society
The dangers in binary thinking are obvious. In opposing tyranny and authoritarianism, we then espouse freedom at its minimalist as absence of inherent class and caste. After that what we do with freedom is entirely a matter of whimsy, If we think in more realistic tripartite terms, the freedom and equality itself has opposing wings as social responsibility against personal autonomy.
But if we consider the more physical forms that organised society may take, again there are three not two. There is the medieval Unity with the king at the head, or modern forms of that.
Against which is society as a mere Aggregate of individuals and communities – much as Britain today.
Then there is Holistic society, in which the whole is ‘more than the aggregate of its parts’.
The danger with that is our immediately using whimsical imagination to decide how we would like these to work
Unity – Aggregate – Holism, however they are expressed are not separate they are linked by elementary values.
