If you want to understand people, look at what they do. The obesity and over-ideal weight problem in the U.S. is epidemic yet few seem to care. If there's one thing that all people understand it is that exercise is critical to maintaining proper health. Yet the more that is known about the benefits of regular exercise, the less people seem to engage. How could this be?

Obviously, the answers are many and varied as who could possibly figure out a lifetime of influences v. motivations, but this is not so important in attempting to "understand" how such an enormous percentage of the American population is weight-challenged, ie., fat. The toll this epidemic is taking on this society is immeasurable.

The bottom-line is that we can never understand why something [really] happens because the causes are infinite, but we sure can see the outcomes. Solving problems start with accurate diagnosis [seeing actions as clearly as is possible] despite the etiologies being unknown. Unfortunately, people [and especially institutions] spend most of their time and treasure attempting to peg the causes [so they can continue to fleece the public with absurd fixes] instead of doing what is necessary...
