In the above post, I quoted Russell,
In the above case, theists take big leap from the world of definite knowledge [empirical] over the No Man’s Land over to the dogma and non-empirical related speculations la la land.Bertrand Russell wrote:All definite knowledge – so I should contend – belongs to science;
all dogma as to what surpasses definite knowledge belongs to theology.
... between theology and science there is a No Man’s Land, exposed to attack from both sides; and this No Man’s Land is philosophy.
In la la land, theists and speculators of the likes can make metaphysical, ontological claims and whatever claims without the need for verification and justifications like the scientific method.
What they did is merely to take a very big leap of faith into la la land and insist whatever they claim is real, more real than scientific knowledge - the standard bearer of truth of reality.
Questions:
What drive these speculators to take that leap across the No Man's Land to la la land?
What is there to benefit them or humanity for taking that leap of faith?
