The Godless Gospel

Post by RWStanding »

Gospels
Having made an initial reading of The Godless Gospel, [and How the World Thinks].
I may be right in saying that an no author comes to a task without some preconceptions. Julian Baggini, is perhaps something of an Altruist and interprets virtue accordingly.
The Gospel book tends to confirm my octogenarian perception of many decades, of Jesus of Nazareth preaching a value based ethic, as in 3.
The broad alternatives being;
1: Rule and ruler based authoritarianism or totalitarianism
2: Autonomous globalised individualism.
3: Whatever contrasts with the previous. In modern terms, pragmatic, holistic, personal and intersocial altruism.
Basic values like Freedom are not rules and are shared as in this instance by 2, and 3.
