Lmfao at the irony of this from you, "You re apparently incapable of sustaining a line of reasoning that is outside your conditioning"(you missed an apostrophe by the way)
There are essential differences between progressive and Platonic education which is the topic of the thread. One way of seeing it is by examining the expression :the ends justify the means." Supporters of indoctrination natural for progressive education support the ends as being of primary importance. Supporters of Platonic education know that the means, the creation of human rather than indoctrinated individuals, will result in beneficial ends serving humanity. ...
As has been pointed out to you numerous times your 'Platonic education' is as false as your 'Progressive education' but you don't let anything disturb your little bubble do you. Plato's proposed education system exactly sorted his citizens into their roles for the state, the clue is in the title of the book you've not bothered to read but seem to know so much about. What was positive about it was that it was egalitarian and non-sexist and it is true that thirty or forty years down the line the few that were still not sorted would become the 'philosopher kings' so I'm interested in how you propose to implement a forty year education system for your masses? Given you are American and seem loathe to make education free for the masses.

It's quite clear that what you actually want to punt to the kids is your pet theological Christian mystical metaphysic and my thought is don't use others taxes to pay for it but put your money where your mouth is and set-up your own school.
Some are drawn to understanding so become open to ponder the differences. Many refuse to see more than two inches in front of their nose so attack ideas beyond this two inch limit. Obviously progressive techniques are becoming dominant
Only in your little bubble which seems to have ignored that the education system in most 'western' liberal democracies is an attempt to implement Plato's system and it is the American need to mercantilise everything and give it a monetary and economic value for it to have worth which has led to your education having to statisticalise everything to count its worth which means things like the arts and humanities losing out as what worth such stuff in a consumer capitalist system. Unfortunately we in the UK appear to have gone down this route as well but fortunately this might be changing as Philosophy is now being retaught in our primary and secondary schools and with a bit of luck things will change.

This thread concerns the primary goals of Platonic and progressive education. You want to argue techniques. That may come later. From the OP:
It is thought provoking to compare the primary goal of progressive education with the primary goal Platonic education.
What good is it to argue techniques if you ignore the comparison? Do you agree with how the goals of progressive and Platonic education were explained in the OP?

Better to miss and apostrophe than fall victim to a secular apostate.
