We are stupiditefied by Satan. Look at number of religions!
Humanity is Trending Towards Division
Humanity is bifurcating between those who embrace rationality (minority, more often associated with some wealth) who continue to grow and learn and those who embrace myths, valuing affiliation over learning (majority, more often associated with deprivation).
So we have ever more brilliant and deep thinking exemplars in societies but this appears along with a growing body of ever more shallow and less educated people. At this stage there's still plenty in between but our numbers will reduce along with the middle class.
If problems associated with population and environment are not entirely catastrophic and humanity muddles through, then the technological gap between this smaller group of wealthy educated elites and the masses will grow, and once the former group starts adding tech to their bodies with implants, nanobots and prosthetics they may come a time in the far future where the two groups can no longer reproduce with each other, resulting in a new species.
