Basicly love is a feeling of appreciation/addiction to something familiar or desired.

Love is knowing and liking. It's fascination and fantasy.

Being in love is a rush of overwhelming appreciation/admiration.

Love is basicly comfort in the known or admiration of something new.

In you inner self, love is a "yes feeling" towards a familiar person/object.

Love can be objectified and explained.

Love is not supernatural or divine.

Love is plain and simple.

It can be traced to the 17th-century expression "play for love," meaning 'to play without any wager, for nothing'. It is this meaning of 'nothing' that love takes on when used in tennis--and in certain card games, as well as in the occasional British football commentary. The proper way to describe a score of zero to zero is to say love-all.

In scandinavia "lov" is law or promise!

It's difficult to separate love from beauty. To be bound through genuine favoring, is to love what is beautiful. Yet, to move in the sphere of what is one's own, is to love. Ergo, the most ugly and excessively vicious child is a mother's own, and so is often the thing loved.

It seems that "love" can be many things... and it is tricky to describe... but here's my attempt: I think of it as profound connection... accepting, kind, and grateful.

I like the kind of love that treasures and wants the best for all. No matter what drama might be happening. For example, when I have broken up with ex-boyfriends, I did NOT wish them ill -- I just thought it was time for us each to move on individually. I think of that as an example of love. Whereas, they became mean and suddenly wanted harm to come to me, which seemed like a very shallow and weak type of "selfish love" that could be turned off and withheld/denied.

I like to envision a world where people truly love with their whole hearts... and I wonder what such enduring love would be like.

No pure love to be found anywhere, LW. Some people come close at times, no doubt, but there's always some agenda, albeit often a trivial and harmless personal need.

Many a theist has engaged in self-flagellation due to unrealistic expectations about their capacity to be truly authentic and thus unable to express unconditional love. Nope. Our love for our children (and pets) is about as good as it gets with humans, but stage mums and sports dads make clear that even parental agendas can often be far from selfless.

I find it easiest to think of humans as apes - to see the ape within the person. Experienced elder apes. Young crazy apes. Sly apes. Helpful apes. Dominant and subject. Fecund and barren, smart and dumb, playful and serious, sensitive or thick-skinned ... Aside from being highly amusing at times, seeing the ape within people (including oneself) makes the things we do wrong seem so more comprehensible. And loveable. This perspective also makes it easier to forgive oneself for the inevitable plethora of stuffups perpetrated in the name of living.

Underneath whatever BS and baggage people collect, I am convinced that the vast majority of a̶p̶e̶s̶ people just want a pleasant and peaceful life.

Is the energy of love something we create? This energy can be given. For example a person who loves plants gives them a quality of energy which allows them to flourish. What if the earth were destroyed tomorrow, would the energy of love no longer be in the universe?
The first law of thermodynamics, also known as Law of Conservation of Energy, states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed; energy can only be transferred or changed from one form to another.
If we are not creating love but rather love is a quality of energy that can at times move through us, IYO what would be the source of the energy of love?

Love is only as good as it suits the one who loves. Anything outside that becomes tolerance or worse.

Love is that mental state which contains the most positive and life-affirming of our emotions and offers them to fill the deepest need of another person. Whether that gift includes maternal elements, or romantic ones, avuncular or sensual or fraternal or spiritual ones, depends on the need of the individual to whom we offer it.
Or should.
It's when we miscalculate and offer sexual love to someone who needs a comerade, or paternal love to someone who needs a swain, or sisterly love to someone who needs a protector, that love causes pain.

How about the ugly faces of love ?

A stalker sincerely believes that he or she loves the object of their unrequited desire and appreciation.

He's taken those positive emotions, wrapped them into a self-serving package and offered them to the wrong recipient. Now, he can't take it back and can't accept that what's being rejected is his own inappropriate decision.

Hello Nick,

The energy of love is not an addition. It is an alignment of forces. Love aligns, or redirects, or orders existent energy upon attention directed towards the beloved. This is effortless, and natural. The experience of love is the experience of no conflict, and that energy freed from conflict allows the steady, non-distracted attention upon the beloved, although that freed energy can subsequently be squandered in conflicts that may follow love. Love orders attention into a singular focus, upon the beloved. The lover experiences thought, movement, and intent all ordering into alignment with a common purpose (the beloved), like photons in a laser beam*, and it feels good.

* a thought that led to an interesting article.

Also, this described dualistic, subject/object love is like, dharana, the sixth limb of yoga.
Love is also like, dhyana, the seventh limb.

Love has no energy. Love is a fantasy. If you look for it's opposite you may find hate. Another fantasy.

It's all in our minds. However, one mind can hold more data, than the entire universe.

If you find energy in love, it's due to choice. Choice is powerful. Love is a choice, not a power.

Love is a good choice, but don't be ignorant/naive.
