Liberalism
Anyone read Patrick Deneen's Why Liberalism Failed? Did you find the case for natural law persuasive? Can we trace the anthropological insights to Nietzsche? The illiberal, conservative case is novel, but getting more traction in the US with or current political dysfunction.
Re: Liberalism
I didn't read it but I question whether liberalism has not failed, just put aside in times of upheaval and instability. The greater the struggle to survive, the more that consideration for others is seen as a luxury. Certainly societies seem more aware and liberal than those recorded hundreds of years ago, and those more liberal than the brutal societies a millennium or more ago.Charles wrote: ↑Thu May 17, 2018 9:32 pm Anyone read Patrick Deneen's Why Liberalism Failed? Note that, as with evolution, emergent properties in society tend to overlay the existent rather than necessarily replace it.

Re: Liberalism
Is this referring to actual liberalism, or some illiterate American wanker's moronic 'definition' of 'liberalism'?

Re: Liberalism
Here's a clue. 'Liberal' does NOT mean ''those annoying twits who bang on about things like 'postgenderism', 'identity fluidity', are constantly waggling their fingers at others while using the 'r' word (apparently mirrors are in very short supply in their world), believe they hold the moral high-ground for the entire human race and are therefore qualified to dictate to others what they can say and even what they should think (sounds familiar), and are generally hypocrites and wankers of the highest order''. Those abominations are NOT liberal.
Now that you've established what you mean by 'these days' perhaps you could define what 'liberalism' and 'socialism' mean 'these days'.

Does it also not mean dolphins?
In other words, what’s the difference between liberalism and socialism these days?

MS-13 is a morally indefensible gang infiltrating the country, decapitating in Long Island, that sort of thing.
President Trump has called them animals.
The liberal media says that by doing this, he is racistly calling immigrants animals.
The characteristic lying attitude is illustrated by the question posed in the link by a White House correspondent.
The question in the link is an example of the typical deceit from liberals.
Most of the media in the USA identifies as liberal.
Are they wrong about themselves?
Here is the woman who handles the daily stream of deceitful crap questions from the liberal media that overwhelmingly votes for Democrat politicians, as do educators and attorneys.

Ofc some people are too ignorant to understand taking their frustrations out on others when they should start with themselves.Philosophy Explorer wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 1:45 pm It's like asking what's the difference between Kiwiism and Aussiism?

Here in the US, we do have our fair share of liberals to an extreme along with conservatives, etc., etc. Yet the country remains united under the . Trying to be picky serves no purpose.

Uh huh. I hear what you're not saying.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 1:27 pmWhy are you asking when you are unable to define either? You might as well ask 'what is the difference between shyness and Political Correctness?'
