Should schools and businesses have dress codes?

At one time years ago, many different places had dress codes. Now, e.g., many businesses have dress-down Fridays or eliminated uniforms along with dress codes.

Some may find dress codes to be restrictive. I have first thought that way with a certain job I held, but then found a way to turn a shirt from a negative into a huge asset by changing my sales strategy which turned everything upside down.

As a further note, even without a dress code, practically every town and city would have laws about certain types of dressing which wouldn't be permitted such as nudity.

What are your thoughts?
