PhilosophyNow Articles

A take on reading PhilosophyNow articles.

I tend to read some of the articles (the ones that are available at least) on the PhilosophyNow website, and I see a lot of dogmatism that comes from the academic philosophers who are writing about different kinds of philosophers. They try and prop up and defend their favorite philosophers from various 'naysayers' and try to show how better they are than the other philosophers, which is pretty much no different from defending a religion or a sect of a religion, or other things.

It irks me because each philosopher may have good points when looking at life and its components (the nature of being, mind, ethics, etc.), but yet may have shortcomings in their thinking and conclusions which negates other points of views. Also, if those philosophers were able to come up with original ideas about how life is and should be, then we who look at these philosophers must also do the same.
