Agreed, however it’s the individual or the family member who needs knowledge that is true or that can be relied on as true.

It is not necessary for family members to speak the truth.

Truth is valuable to the individual, but not necessary in a family unit.

On this point you couldn't be more wrong, I feel sorry for your family members.

When I first married, I was in the USN, had to ask permission and was required to see the Chaplin for marriage counselling, and the only thing he did was tell a true story of a marriage that ended in divorce because of one simple little honest utterance of truth after years of saying he liked her pot-roast. He summarized that honesty (truth) was the most important thing in a relationship.

It was also the number one answer on Family Feud when asked, 'In a relationship what's the most important thing?' 'Honesty,' was the answer. Or in other words, 'truth.'

The greatest percentage of romance movies deals first and foremost with truth, or rather the lack thereof, as the most central problem in a relationship.

No one likes to be deceived, it undermines their security. With truth people can work the problem, with lies only one knows there is a problem, and that always ends in disaster, sometimes especially for those that don't know there is one.

I would wager that of those familes that murder one or more of their nuclear family members that it was due to lies being told, not truth. No one likes being a sucker, and especially for a long length of time, wasted on such a freak.

If one does something that they know their family member believes is wrong, and immediately feels guilty and confesses to the family member concerned, genuinely apologizes, asks for forgiveness and promises never to do it again, has a better chance of being forgiven and maintaining the family than one that does otherwise.

People always lie out of selfishness, to put forth that which is not true, so they will not be punished for their betrayal. To pretend to be something they're not, to have their cake and eat it too. If they say they lie to protect another, that's just them trying to justify their lie, actually out of fear of being judged for their betrayal. They know how they'd feel if the roles were reversed.

Truth is valuable to the individual, but not necessary in a family unit.
Your stance is due to your fear of standing up and being counted. You want to hide in the shadows of deceit because you'd rather take than give. You're a thief my friend! And if you're a Christian, "Thou shalt not steal!" Anyone that believes as you do is a hypocrite, as you have become that thing you fear. And the way I see it is that you're quite insane, perpetuating your own problems; a creator of chaos when what you want for yourself is peace!

When have you ever witnessed my stance? You haven’t. After 23 years of military service, I have no fear of standing up for what I say. I’ll admit to a fear of snakes, except for the likes of you.

There’s no hiding for me, because I take responsibility for my actions and statements. As for deceit, I always try hard to say what I mean and mean what I say. Other than making a bluff in a game of poker, I don’t lie.

You don’t know me, yet you fabricate stories from your own imagination. Following the example of an 8 year old, I was fooled into stealing a candy bar when I was 6 years old, but never anything since.

No way, you SOB. You don’t even know my beliefs aside from what you read in this forum. Since you don’t know, you can’t possibly know if my beliefs can turn anyone into a hypocrite. Now you’re fabricating that I have become something I am surely not, as I already told you what I fear.

Incorrect, power in an inanimate human concept, it does not exist in the realm of the universe, only in the minds eyes of greedy, selfish fools, that back their domination with WMD and lessor, what ever it takes. These people fear death more than all others, they're pansies, cowards, yellow. And so they try and enslave so that everyone else can bear the burdens of life while they sit shaking in their boots on the pile of broken bones and rotting flesh. They are indeed the scum of the earth!

If what you speak is true about your age, then I apologize, as now I realize that it surely seems that you're old and decrepit, and so half of the time don't know what it is you're saying.

I'm giving you the benefit of doubt here. So as to be charitable.

You saying the following, is why you deserved everything I said, as I was only giving rebuttal to your declaration that, (and I quote):
commonsense wrote:It is not necessary for family members to speak the truth.
That was the issue, which is why I started my rebuttal immediately after. There is no place that it's more necessary for truth to be spoken out loud, otherwise you undermine the sanctity of the family unit, leading them astray.(PERIOD!!!!)

So reverse your stance and apologize to all the young family members that might be here that read such evil tripe and been swayed by it and I'll apologize for making you pay for it!!!

Because I kind of like you, because you seem to be a democrat, you know, one that legitimately cares for his fellow man no matter what their race, color, or creed. And you should, being an ex military person, working along side all those of different persuasions for a common cause. I learned much from my 16 years of service, I was the mission, and dangerous it surely was. I worked with weapon systems from the Colt .45 semi-automatic pistol up to and including the biggest of weapons, NUC'S, and as I stood there beside the potential mushroom, I contemplated where and why I was, and in that moment I understood more about life on planet earth within this magnificent universe than most men do in a lifetime, my being inclined towards philosophy and psychology, as a life long endeavour of understanding, of course. Which is why I'm such an SOB; The Spheres must Balance! Or we all loose!

It's that simple! :P

P.S. The truth is that right now, that thing in the oval office is a brain dead sociopath, megalomaniac, and a malignancy that must be cut out via voting or lady liberty dies along with, "by the people, for the people."
How many people have died so far, because the brain dead fuck dragged his feet, blaming everybody and everything but himself for the COVID-19 massacre; Like I said, "MEGALOMANIAC!" Running to the catacombs for fear, as he gassed the peaceful protesters. That boy is the epitome of cowardice, and the US Presidency has absolutely no place for such a spoiled irrational child. Do you want me to start on how he's potentially made us vulnerable to the greatest mushroom of them all? Seen a coral reef lately, how about the waters edge? Then look at his cronies pockets.

And this truth is damn necessary!!!!

Edit: typo, added the t above for "the" instead of "he"

It is necessary for the truth to be spoken in a GOOD family, but not necessary in all families.

A family would still be a family, although not a loving family, even if family members lied to each other.

A family is a group whose members are connected. Truth is not necessary for the existence of a family.

Then you weren't a GOOD leader, if at all, in the service, or for your family. One should lead by example. Your complicity with lying might be why it was a BAD family. Or at least you bolstered the that which made it BAD.

Correct about it not being loving! Though it seems that you don't realize that not telling the truth is the same as lying, it's lying by omission. If something concerns someone in a family then it should always be told to those it concerns.
