Rick, I will be interested in what you have to say on zombies since I have been entertaining a post on them: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5211

We're going to have a go at relaunching the London Philosophy Now Meetup Group. We're having a brief meeting tomorrow, 1st June, just before the regular Philosophy For All Kant's Cave meeting to discuss what we want to do and when we want to meet in future. If you are in town, do drop in. The meeting is in the upstairs bar of the Exmouth Arms, in Starcross Street, London NW1.

I've splashed out on a three month membership of the Meetup.com website to help get the ball rolling:

On the Wednesday just past, the London Philosophy Now Meetup group had its first meeting for a long time. Four of us met in a pub near Camden called the Edinboro Castle. Taking a cue from the current issue of Philosophy Now, we discussed the nature of love. (Should that be spelled "lurrvve"?)

We'll meet again in the same venue on 28th September, at 7:30pm. Topic to be decided - and you can help decide here:

There will be a debate today at the Bishopsgate Institute on "Philosophy and Scary Monarchs". It will start at 2:30pm and will last 90 mins. Sorry I didn't post this here before! I'll be introducing the topic and chairing the discussion.

A week from now, on Saturday 21st July at 4.30pm, in Green Park, the London Philosophy Now Group will be having a Pre-Socratic Picnic! It is being organised by Will Bouwman. I'll be going too.

Full details are on the group's page on Meetup.com here:

What have the pre-Socratics done for us? Well, they took the mythology of Homer and Hesiod, shook it upside down and out popped science, logic and mathematics. We will be looking at the major schools, the Milesian, Eleatic and Pythagorean and some of the characters associated with them, Thales, Anaximander and Anaximenes, Parmenides and Zeno, Pythagoras and Philolaus.

Well, if you check the dates, it's probably because this happened before you joined the forum. Still, that picnic morphed into an article I wrote for the magazine which you can read here: https://philosophynow.org/issues/104/Ph ... d_Branches I'm always happy to talk about Pre-Socratics, if that's your bag.
