For philosophical reflections on the COVID-19 pandemic. How can philosophy help us to understand it, to combat it and to survive it?

Apathetic Freedom

Apathetic Freedom
There is a spate of media discussions on the way out of our Covid Crisis and to a Green Future.
The crisis is exacerbated by those taking part being from quite opposing ethical/political poles.
Democratic agreement and compromise is between those who are going in the same general direction.
Compromise between opposites is about the strongest side winning and suppressing others.
One particular spokesman, from the USA, strongly affirmed belief in respect for other people but rejected any responsibility for them or for owing them anything. This is one good definition of Anarchist society [which is not chaos or lawlessness].
Part of the problem is in ‘responsibility’ being interpreted as between individuals. As if we owe something to a particular person. Altruist society [as a convenient title] is at the opposite pole of ‘freedom’ in which people are free to do only what is socially [and environmentally] responsible. That is indeed something difficult to define and construct, which requires social institutions.
What may seem an unlikely social institution is Parliament itself – in so far as it is independent from government but can bring it to account.
An extreme Autocracy or Tyranny is one in which the government in any form [which may also be the princes of globalised industry] dictate to the people. In which a pseudo-parliament is simply a tool of government. If such a tyranny were concerned for people as individuals, it would essentially move away from tyranny.
In any case, a Green future is not merely producing unpolluting energy.

What is the connection between COVID and Green?
