I thought that early on it was estimated that there would be something around 1 - 4 % of people getting Coronavirus in the U.S. Why are the positivity rates so much higher?

Cuz beer virus is way more widespread (and far less malign) than folks think.commonsense wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 11:49 pm I thought that early on it was estimated that there would be something around 1 - 4 % of people getting Coronavirus in the U.S. Why are the positivity rates so much higher?
It's a nasty cold virus; cold *viri are everywhere.
*viri? viruses?

as I say: we don't have a friggin' clue as to the real (infection, hospitalization, death, and recovery) numbers
too many cooks in the kitchen, too many hands in the pot
incompetence & agenda have screwed the pooch
double counts, deaths with beer virus bein' counted as deaths from beer virus, deaths listed as from beer virus where there's no confirmation of beer virus infection, the likelihood beer virus is far more asymptomatic and widespread than reported, and on and on, all contribute to the notion of Coronapocalype when, really, it's just a nasty cold
as I say: we've been, are bein', hoodwnked

Re: perspective
The risk of something falling on your head isn’t as bad as the risk of being struck by a car when you’re crossing the street. Instead of wearing a helmet like the Swiss doctor says, you should take the seat belt out of your car and wear it all the time.henry quirk wrote: ↑Tue Jul 21, 2020 3:46 pm the original: https://www.weltwoche.ch/ausgaben/2020- ... -2020.html

I'll be generous and just say Binker is wrong.
Moral reality is narrow and individual. It has nuthin' at all to do with the grand scheme.

That is generous. There is no Binker but his "ideas" are totally consistent with today's so-called moral thinking while flying in the face of the idiots who promote them.henry quirk wrote: ↑Fri Jul 24, 2020 6:33 pm I'll be generous and just say Binker is wrong.

The world is nutty right now (more so than usual).
Wouldn't surprise me if, right now, some academic were writin' up a paper mirrorin' the view of your fictional doc.

You seem to be saying, here and elsewhere, that wearing a mask is not immoral and no one should have to wear a mask or there’s not a person who should be moralhenry quirk wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 3:56 pm The world is nutty right now (more so than usual).

How do you resolve this apparent conflict?
