Mathematics ends in contradiction:6 reasons

What is the basis for reason? And mathematics?

That is the one fundamental unavoidable truth about all of our existence
It will get you. It will get me.
it MAY not get the generation that comes after us.

I just missed the buss on Cord Blood Banking by 5 years :/

I guess I just have to harden the fuck up and take it on the chin when my time comes. Like the billions before me.

When you finally do you would already have died before you got there
Whose lifetime? Yours or the machine's? ;)

Remember it experiences 'time' orders of magnitude faster than you and I do...

No machine can survive the death of a star it will be atomised
No life form can reverse entropy and carry on living for eternity
Even the Universe will eventually die so too will everything else

You are still stuck in the individualistic perspective.

The machines that live nearby the star (those who couldn't evacuate, or chose to stay behind) will die. Yes.

Those who live in another galaxy/solar system will continue to live.

If you don't put all your eggs in one basked you can't lose all your eggs at once.

Yes. The universe will eventually go too. But I am pretty sure living for 75 years and living for 75000000000000000 years is an entirely different way of living.

And is this particular galaxy going to live forever or will it eventually die
Of course it will die just like every other galaxy that has died or will die

That is precisely zero per cent of infinity so is effectively nothing at all
Even so I would still much rather be dead for all that time than be alive

I am placing my bets on the universe being a simulation.

When I die - I get the "New game or Quit?" screen :)

And if it's not a simulation, we should make it one, so that the humans that come after us get the "New Game or Quit?" screen!

I have solved infinitism AND infinite regress for myself.

You might have solved infinitism and infinite regress but only within your mind
Because your body will still be subject to the non reversible effects of entropy

Look. You are clearly set on dying, so no matter what I say to you it's "all the same".
You see no value in living better, longer lives, when 75 is already 'too much'. So be it.

But I must ask you one question: Why are you still here?
If death is better than life, if you look forward to it then why are you still talking to me?

You know where the exit is.

I for one don't think you believe a word of what you are saying!

You think I should kill myself because I am a nihilist and suicide is the natural / logical conclusion ?
But I am not a nihilist am I ? So will I be allowed to live or is there some thing else I have to deny ?

I am just trying to understand your rationale.

If I say that I like chocolate more than I like candy and I mean it then I will buy chocolate, not candy.

You say you want candy, but you keep buying/eating chocolate.

Of course, it's your money - spend it however you want, but maybe you are just looking for somebody to eat chocolate with?

Accepting the inevitable does not mean it has to happen as soon as possible
By that strange logic every one would have to commit suicide immediately

There are three options on the table.

A. Life > Death
B. Death > Life
C. Death = Life

You claim to be a nihilist (Death = Life).
BUT you are a living nihilist, not a Dead one.

Choosing not to choose is CHOOSING to remain alive.

I can even use Mathematics to convince you. Here: https://repl.it/repls/InvolvedAlarmingProfiles

Code: Select all

# We have three hypotheses which are all equally likely
# Hypotheses

# Life > Death
A = 0.0

#Death = Life
B = 0.0

# Death > Life
C = 0.0

# I am a nihilist
# Supports B. No effect on A or C
B = B + 1

# I am a living nihilist.
# Supports A. Goes aginst B and C
A = A + 1
B = B - 1
C = C - 1

# I have a CHOICE to die, or remain alive yet I remain living.
# Supports A and B. Goes against C.
A = A + 1
B = B + 1
C = C - 1

Code: Select all

Life > Death: 2.0
Life = Death: 1.0
Death > Life: -2.0

How can a nihilist also be a non nihilist ?
Is there a machine that can answer this ?
