Chairperson: "We're having this meeting to see if we should admit zero as a member of the natural numbers as questions have arisen as to its fitness for being recognized as a number."
Number One: "Let me open with a few remarks. With every number, you can add it, subtract it, multiply it and divide by it. It's that last property that we have an issue with zero as it can't be defined in any consistent manner."
Number Two: "Furthermore doesn't a number denote quantity? What type of quantity does zero purport to represent? If we let zero into our illustrious membership, then it's like saying quantity doesn't even exist!"
Chairperson: "Let's hear from others on the legitimacy of zero on being a number."
What have you to say?
