It is unlikely that genetic manipulation will ever be considered ethical except to prevent, change, or correct anomalies to the norm. Designer, wished for or vanity choices to enhance outcomes would not be considered The transhuman or post-human would need for their launch an understanding of what the human is. The East and West do not even agree on evolution. In the East it is an unsheathing of what was there from the beginning. In the West life begins in gross matter and evolves into new creations in species. Forces are not considered and so far only a crude version of electricity has been discovered. The periodic table is not complete and new particles are being discovered with their functions still unknown. How these impact the mind and consciousness is also unknown. It is not understood whether the duality is between body and sense mind or between mind and intellect. To go beyond duality would appear beneficial if it did not involve being robotic as this interviewee appears to mix Heraclitus's way of truth versus opinion with the instinctive certainty of the animal world. The trans or post human could be much more interesting than their proponents perceive it to be. It would require an understanding of reality first and what the real potential of the human is. It is unlikely it will require technological enhancement when that understanding is achieved.

The article is just another speculation on a subject capable of yielding any number of them. It's almost certain the reality turns out to be completely different. In that regard philosophical analysts have much in common with financial ones. The best they can do is speculate. The present never knows enough about the future to do anything else.
