Self and Symbolization
Re: Self and Symbolization
I believe the self comes before symbolization either external or internal. The symbol of the self as Atman, or Adam Kadmon is timeless, and people rediscover it in each individual if they so inclined. I think external material symbols of the self such as a church are more an expression of a feeling, or sensation than a realization, and people like Carl Jung were looking back as far as the could to The Ancient One, as is the name of a painting by William Blake. Religions must strongly reassert equality of women's image, the anima, into 'god' if we are to see the Self in the large dominating religions.
