Re: A Gentle Introduction to Structuralism, Postmodernism And All That
I do NOT believe that structuralism and deconstructionism were meant to undermine the beliefs in a pervading truth. De-constructionism was meant for learning how to best understand philosophy in changing times, by laying bare in more simple terms the profound philosophers of the past such as J. P. Sartre and K. Marx as I understand it. I cannot help but think that it is natural for a student to feel frustrated in trying to put the work into understanding the great philosophers, but to put them aside implying there is no meaning in mere words, and that an empty structure is all they are, is NOT a helpful approach. Also, this generation knows there is NO truth if one's convictions are NOT realized in changing our lifestyles, and the intellectual stimulation of good ideas as presented by many philosophers, all times and cultures can keep our minds and active and keep us on our toes.

I agree. It's mostly Jewish.

Tell me what you mean 'It is mostly Jewish.' and why that is funny. This comment seems out of context of the article and discussion.

Re: A Gentle Introduction to Structuralism, Postmodernism And All That
Thank you for the interesting article. Derrida, and the more indirect connection with Husserl, implicated Jewish men. However neither author introduced any traditional Jewish, or Hebraic teachings in their works. To align the philosophical movements here as being Jewish in a humorous way is a stereotype of the Jewish character, and tends toward ill feelings.
Re: A Gentle Introduction to Structuralism, Postmodernism And All That
Gentile means goyim. Gentil is what the user ought to have typed. Has nothing to do with Hussler or anyone. Just with the bad spelling by the person who thus made the meaning ridiculous in the first place.

Now that I understand the context, it is indeed humorous. I am NOT perfectionist in these matters, but in these times the discussion can easily take on negative connotations if misunderstood. Thank you for taking the time to explain.
