If there is only the here and now, consciousness lives in a blank reality.
Consciousness is a blank reality.

Not me no, you yes, but not me.

If there was no blank screen ..you wouldn’t be able to see anything.

Things are seen , but the seer is not a thing, and can never experience itself as a thing.

Time is a thing.

An action is a thing known. A known thing, known by no thing, therefore illusory.

as such ultimately untrue )
All of existence is a single state of transition. Of course it can be divided into various categories for reasons of practicality but those
categories are explanations of existence rather than existence itself. So the map must therefore not be confused with the territory

I say time is misleading for a few reasons:

It seems that time is dependent on motion which is dependent on time when in reality
Time(b) is dependent on motion and motion is dependent on time(a).

Plus it seems that dates exist in reality when dates were devised by people as a frame of reference for events.

Plus it seems that durations exist in reality when only one time exists at now and the brain creates the presence of durations.

Plus ........ (but that should be enough)

Motion is dependent on time because in a universe without time everything would be static
Time however is far less dependent on motion even though everything is actually in motion

Actually most people say that time depends on motion but you are more correct. Motion is just the mechanism that allows us to identify time. But I will stick with the dual view anyway because relativity effects post motion time but not pre motion time.

"How do you know that whatever they do is not purely instinctual?"
"How do you know that you don't?"
I was meaning How do you know that what you do is not instinctive? Sorry for the ambiguity.

Why is it important to you to create a distance between human thinking and that of other animals?
OK, now I understand you better.
I didn't intend to create distance between human and animal thinking.

I don't know what causes my doing - doing simply happens (but there is no me to be found that is doing it).
You could thus call all doing (including thinking) instinctive, but when you look for instincts you will also come up empty... Something happens and you react - its the old game of cause and effect - an essential part of how we believe our dualistic world works.
