If there was no blank screen ..you wouldn’t be able to see anything.
Things are seen , but the seer is not a thing, and can never experience itself as a thing.
Time is a thing.

Time is an action, not a thing. Whatever thing creates time is not seen.Dontaskme wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 1:25 pmNot me no, you yes, but not me.jayjacobus wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 12:52 pmSomeone has drawn me off topic. Perhaps they drew you off too.

An action is a thing known. A known thing, known by no thing, therefore illusory.jayjacobus wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 2:42 pmTime is an action, not a thing. Re: Seeing Time
All of existence is a single state of transition. Of course it can be divided into various categories for reasons of practicality but thoseAlex wrote:
I see the world from the unified perspective where everything is an expression of the undivided whole. This non dual perspective / knowledge
is based on how reality is directly experienced whereas the dualistic perspective while at times practical is not more than an abstraction ( and
as such ultimately untrue )
categories are explanations of existence rather than existence itself. So the map must therefore not be confused with the territory

Misleading no, seeing through the illusion of a knower, yes.jayjacobus wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 3:34 pmMisleading, yes. Unreal, no.Dontaskme wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 2:49 pmAn action is a thing known. A known thing, known by no thing, therefore illusory.jayjacobus wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 2:42 pm

I say time is misleading for a few reasons:Dontaskme wrote: ↑Sat May 05, 2018 4:05 pmMisleading no, seeing through the illusion of a knower, yes.

It seems that time is dependent on motion which is dependent on time when in reality
Time(b) is dependent on motion and motion is dependent on time(a).
Plus it seems that dates exist in reality when dates were devised by people as a frame of reference for events.
Plus it seems that durations exist in reality when only one time exists at now and the brain creates the presence of durations.
Plus ........ (but that should be enough)

Re: Seeing Time
Motion is dependent on time because in a universe without time everything would be static
Time however is far less dependent on motion even though everything is actually in motion

Re: Seeing Time
Actually most people say that time depends on motion but you are more correct. Motion is just the mechanism that allows us to identify time. But I will stick with the dual view anyway because relativity effects post motion time but not pre motion time.

OK, now I understand you better.A_Seagull wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 10:46 pm I was actually referring to being instinctive.
"How do you know that whatever they do is not purely instinctual?"
"How do you know that you don't?"
I was meaning How do you know that what you do is not instinctive? Sorry for the ambiguity.
Why is it important to you to create a distance between human thinking and that of other animals?
I didn't intend to create distance between human and animal thinking.
I don't know what causes my doing - doing simply happens (but there is no me to be found that is doing it).
You could thus call all doing (including thinking) instinctive, but when you look for instincts you will also come up empty... Something happens and you react - its the old game of cause and effect - an essential part of how we believe our dualistic world works.
