It remains true, however, that a human study such as psychology is not a science in the same sense as physics, because whatever it shares with the scientific method, it also receives essential support from the methods of hermeneutics. Faced with communications, we need to establish the background, likely knowledge and personal motives of the communicator.

Interesting article.
But don't know much - anything - about hermeneutics or its methods.

Answer is yes.phycology is the science of human nature.and the pattern of id ego and super ego as a template that can fit over and therefor discribe any human situation .the same template could just as easy describe any religion in terms of phycology.

I’m not a psychologist, but my wife has been for the past 26 years (PhD in Industrial/Organizational). To make a blanket statement about it not being a science is a tad disingenuous or at least uninformed. Some areas of psychology are scientifically/statistically driven with hard data where others are more touchy-feely, but clearly it is not a hard science, nor can it be.
