Word of the day

Deplatform

Deplatform is new concept that can significantly affect life for those who need a platform. The word gets tossed around like a fact of life. The concept probably has always been around under other names, but now like a lot of things, the internet can make a concept’s effects as big as Godzilla stomping on the little people. The internet’s reach and influence can transform an old concept into generic coercion for those who have allowed inventions such as platforms to define necessity.

Ungawa

I thought it was a made-up multi-purpose word Tarzan used to control nature when he wasn’t hollering his amazing jungle call that made elephants stampede and animal buddies perform complex tasks for the first time, not to mention causing Jane to renounce civilization.

However, The Google indicates it’s an actual word. Among all the implications of that … is the current cancel-culture Marxist tendency to engage the memory hole mentioned by Orwell.

Tarzan movies still exist probably because there’s just so much rewriting and canceling to do and so little time, so much out there that will offend someone in ways known or unknown, that doing it all at once, like nature does Spring, would likely require some similar divine intervention.

However, folks do what they must, and the journey to rewriting history begins with the first step, and a really popular one that got a lot of mention in 2020 is tearing down the statues of the past, as if that will change the fact that Hollywood turned ungawa into a cool multi-purpose word, rescuing it from the evolutionary trash heap of historically irrelevant languages.

Statues are like walls*. Before tearing one down, know why it was made and perhaps who made it … which leads to understanding why such things should be made, why they are made, and why they have always been made, even in the 60’s Age of Aquarius that was intent on tearing down all walls to find “unadorned” reality, which partially explains the nekked dancing at Woodstock in the beautiful Catskills, home of Sleepy Hollow, Melville country, and other notes of interest.

* the figurative and literal kind of walls, which is another word for "duality which separates."

'Deplatform'. Is this another example of bastardisation of the language by Americans, with their infuriating habit of turning nouns into verbs and verbs into nouns and every other offensive combination they can think of to be as annoying and pretentious as possible?

My pet hate is when a verb gets turned into an attempted noun...this in particular:- "We need to have the conversation bla bla bla..some fat Uni grad with bright rimmed glasses projecting their "world view" to me as if they have learned some wisdom in the sacred halls of a university.

Where is the verb turned into a noun here? We need 'to dialogue' about this and 'brainwave' a solution

'karen' is just a misogynistic arsewipe of a label, an excuse to belittle anything a woman says.

Affrontation:

- Affrontation is a combination of “affront,” and “confrontation.”
- Affrontation means to confront a person or situation as a result of being insulted, whether or not that insult is real or imagined.
- Example: Hey! That sucka affronted me!
- It’s what Karens do.
- Affrontation makes Karen affrontational.
- The power of an affront, real or imagined, can literally move a Karen’s body to commence snarking.
- It also moves the road-ragers to perform in Act I of their stupidity.
(- To digress, Deplatform has only recently appeared in the dictionary.)
- A casual perusal reveals that affrontation has yet to appear in a dictionary, and it won't unless it becomes a commonplace word.

Exaggeration
Selective Bias
Media Hype.
Fake News

These four concepts explains that fake phenomenon above; and "cancel culture".

Well, I'll say this about that ...

Resorting to fictions in order to elicit thematic expositions makes too subtle a point that can cause the effect of replacing dialogue with the same old, same old, tedious bickering which is rather inappropriate for up-front philosophy, although it is obviously a necessary condition for thee again making its appearance, borne of mysterious origins * ...

Very well, to further elaborate …
Affrontation used in a sentence:

"Awww. You named the little rugrat Affrontation. Such a lovely sound. A made-up name? What does it mean?"

* Although mystery-solving possibilities do abound.

Disinformation

Disinformation is primarily carried out by government intelligence agencies, but has also been used by non-governmental organizations and businesses.[20] Front groups are a form of disinformation, as they mislead the public about their true objectives and who their controllers are.

The cleverest thing about the this is to take things that are essentially factual and spin them out of all proportion. In this way the public are controlled, and convinced of something thought widespread but which is statistically insignificant.

For example: one or two student's unions (of which there are thousands) decide to cancel or or two people they think not worthy of platforming. Far too much is made of such cases, thought exaggeration, so that the public think there is some sort of major conspiracy against other people of the same type.

What starts as one union not inviting a racist to platfom in a university becomes a widespread attack on anyone who questions race relations.
