I must have misunderstood. It's annoying isn't it  Anyway, his misery seems to come solely from his desire to find a mythical 'soul mate', so that's where my sympathy ends.
I'm sorry to annoy. Just lock me up where I can't bother the public. That seems to be standard treatment for the mentally ill. That and ridiculing or mocking us in the cafeteria. We deserve it. You've both had your moment sowing your wild oats. Heaven forbid I should get a turn. Neither of you probably has any idea what lonliness without any hope is. Alienation from others is a life sentence.
You make an awful lot of assumptions. I'm done with your self-pitying drivel. And by the way, what happened to your comment where you were demanding that others give back to you financially? Have you been spending money on 'Nigerian Princess' scams, or Russian prostitute FB pages that 'friend' lonely males? I knew someone like that, and no matter how much they were told that they were fake profiles he just wouldn't listen. You just can't help some people.
Next you will be blaming women for only liking 'bad guys', not 'nice guys (like you)'. That's a misogynistic incel myth anyway.
Just kick a man when he's down. He's no utility to you. Dump his body on a street corner somewhere. He can panhandle for a living if he can muster enough will to continue with life afterward. "Until [he's a shell of his former self], do you part."

I helped out a woman financially whom I met at a support group for mental illness. She was unemployed with a daughter, flat broke and couldn't afford medical bills or necessary repair bills on her parents' very nice home (where she's living). So I dumped my life savings into helping her. The whole time I helped her she did nothing but insult and put me down because I wasn't "man" enough for her. When she landed a nice paying job (makes more than I do now) she began to realize I was just inconvenient baggage. She can find much better catches now that I kept her afloat long enough to get her shit together. Fine. Such is life. I won't be helping anyone else anytime soon, not that I can afford to anymore anyway. I used to be a reasonably pleasant person but the past two years have been nothing but emotional hell.

Ok. So you chose to give away your money. You can't blame anyone else for that. I'm not someone who reacts particularly well to being manipulated or to anyone trying to make me feel guilty. It irritates the fuck out of me.

Welcome to the club. I don't react well to being put down, let alone used and then discarded. I assume nobody does.

Anyway, it was a lesson learned. If there's a next time, I'll know to just stay well away. I'm sorry for getting upset at you and Lace and everyone else. It's been hell going through this. As you can tell, I got very attached and the ride wasn't pleasant. But I need to get over it. Just takes time.

Not exactly what I was meaning, but hey, you don't seem to be particularly rational or self aware at the moment.

No, I'm not. I'm not in a good state of mind at all. I feel used and worst of all, I feel like I deserve it. I can only imagine it's something like some women must feel when they say they feel "responsible" for being raped.

But I'll get over it. I have no serious beef with anyone here. I even still love her.

Yes, free to dodge bullets if you can.
Free to bankrupt yourself for the want of being well.
And free to misuse the term "socialism" to mean anything you wish.

The first rule: know thyself.

Frankly Gary, I think you know yourself quite well. You know how to listen to yourself and do self-assessments, then adjust behavior within the limitations of your personal capacities. That's the most anyone can do and many do less.

Eventually when you don't stay away, you will see into situations involving money and emotions more clearly. More clearly means no bitterness.

I, too, went through my savings for a partner I loved who couldn't keep a job. I knew I deserved better, and I did it anyway. There were some fun times that kept me hooked, but it was mostly a costly experience that wasn't really worth it in the end. I've never done that again. And I found more people and things to love even more! :)

Try to have compassion for yourself and don't shut down because of this. See it as a stepping stone toward better things.

I'm losing my mind over you. I figured there's no room in there for the two of you.

"What are your apocalypse plans?" To be as close to the first mushroom cloud as possible, sunscreen in hand.

I wouldn't bother with sunscreen. It's not going to do anything. However, if the powers that be end up destroying us, I'd say moving to one of the nuclear epicenters is probably a good idea, as opposed to living to experience the horrors of the aftermath. :(
