I’d add to the foregoing list 2 living American comedians: Lewis Black and Kathleen Madigan. Their humor is very relatable.

Chris Rock and Gabriel Iglesias. Same reason.

So American idiots think an on screen character is the same as an off screen human? How surprising

You're comparing apples and oranges, i.e., characters and humans.

Hollywood has always been ironic towards humans. The humans Doris and Rock portrayed personas who slept in twin beds. No one bought that, but double think made it believable.*

It's more pronounced today. Characters are caricatures. Watch the film Brubaker to see the wise liberal overlords in action against the ignorant corruption of backwards humans. Same theme today, but the characters are super heroes, or super villains.

* On the other hand, many folks apparently do buy into the Hollywood characterizations of Americans. There exists in the panoply a rich variety of descriptive monikers for this type.

How did you people make a simple conversation about jokey bastards into a fucking flame war?

Have Frankie Boyle, laugh at some rude jokes and stop being wankers.

Lots of sharp observations.

He sounds like either Jack Nicholson or Christian Slater.

I love Paul Whitehouse. One time when it was Christmas he was on TV and my sister and I were watching him, similar to the following character - I don't know what the segment would be called but he was talking with a crackling fire in the background and he built this story up so well, and in his chair he was in darkness apart from the fire and perhaps a candle or two. Well, it was a scary story he was telling and then a butler or someone interupted him and he jumped scared - as did me and my sister and it was hilarious - so if anyone comes across that one please post!

Russell Kane again - talking about his dad ---the silverback!

I couldn't find the full vid of him taking the piss out of his day, it's far better than this little snippet - I swear he is talking about my dad..

Tom Segura hands down, is comedy is less of an act and is just stories he says with a straight face ( which makes it 10x funnier in my opinion ). he does some expressions but they're more mocking than trying to commit the audience into laughing, i would severely suggest his earlier ones, he just has this expression like this nonchalant face of i don't give a fuck and it jus makes it hilarious to hear the funny shit that's happened to him and then he just isn't fazed by it. i roll every time i watch him,

Theo Von i enjoy a lot cause were both southerners and his accent makes it better for me to relate to cause i be explaining shit and people be laughing just how it comes out, and it kind of reassures me if i tried i could most likely pull of stand up
