I saw about 15 minutes yesterday. And thought - oh no not another one.

I'm enjoying The Sandman, but I don't trust Netflix. Netflix and Amazon have a habit of cancelling series on huge cliffhangers for no apparent reason, even when the ratings have been good.
I've just started the second episode since you posted..seems pretty good so far. It does remind me of American Gods - loved that.

Altered Carbon was really good once you get through the first episode and things start to make sense. (i think it was on Netflix) - cyberpunk on steroids.
I loved season 1, but was pissed off that season two changed to lead. I had trouble being convinced by Joel Kinnaman as a lead actor. Could not get into Season Two - why change a working formula. Were we being woked into a colour change ??

Walker wrote: Sun Aug 07, 2022 5:40 am The thread title leads to an interesting question. Perhaps too corny for the slick, but I was thinking ... What kind of story are you watching on your show *? What is your show? (A cool someone calls this the "helicopter view.")

The other night (months ago, when gas was new) I filled the truck up ... just off what was once a busy highway, and I was the only customer. Two clerks were taking a break outside the front door, smoking cigarettes. The garbage can was full. No water to wash the windshield. After I made sure everyone of my people was strapped in, I called out to the two in a pleasant voice. I said, "the garbage is full!"

Blank expressions. I figured, maybe their English wasn't so good. No reason to think that other than no response. So, I simplified. I said, "Garbage! Full!" and I pointed.

The woman, slovenly of form caused by neglect perhaps caused by ignorance or uncaring, nodded that she understood. Perhaps from the distance I only imaged the food stains on her uniform. The young fella, same uniform, just looked scared. Maybe he really didn't speak English. I smiled and waved, buh bye.

The world is my lawn.

Seriously who the fuck are you to tell someone to take out the trash?
I looks like you were in the opening of a Texas Chainsaw massacre type scenario where the white racist arsehole spends three weeks having his skin removed and fed to him, by people living in a shack.

Apparently Netflix just lost a million subscribers.
And people are stupidly asking why!

It's a survivalist reality show.

Bears and mountain lions. Mostly bears, oh my. Ten people, each alone. Soon it will be winter in a forest of the far north, next to a huge lake. The people are building their private shelters, hunting and gathering, while talking to their cameras.

Some of the shelters are impressive. One woman dug out a basement for hers using a stick and a jawbone that she found. The jawbone was a nice touch for the theme.

The last one to tap out gets half a million $.

The skills and the prize are becoming necessary for more folks in the influential Brandon world.

Ragnarok. Refreshingly non-American and therefore non preachy-unsubtle-PC-messagy...If I remember correctly there wasn't a single trans//gender non-specific/non binary/'incongruous token ethnic group representation (it's a small Norwegian town)character in the whole series...

Yeah, I was one of them, and won’t ever be subscribing to them again.

Have stopped buying their crap years ago. I live the most basic minimalistic life. Have done for ages now.

Not too bothered about freezing to death this winter either, my tenacious survival skills would put a sewer rat to shame.

Still watching BBC..
Taboo was BBC too but not followed up. Shame a very unusual drama with Tom Hardy and Ms Chaplin, who were brother and sister of a very different kind. (probably why it was cancelled)
I think Rick and Morty is E4. It's a great escape and funny as fuck.
Dead Pixels is Ch4. also recommended for computer geeks

Thanks for the recommendations. Will try to watch Rick and Morty when I can.

Have you seen Doctor Foster on bbc iPlayer..? Holy macaroni…it’s sad as fuck, made my eyeballs feel like they were going to drown in the salty see water. 😥

“ The Bodyguard “ was good as well.

Yes. Seems I watch too much liked both of them.
Suranne Jones has an amazing nose, and was more recently seen in a submarine drama recently.
(PS a sculptor has an interest in noses)

I did not like Rick and Morty at first but a friend said I should persist. I have yet to thank him since I've not seen him since the pandemic. If you have ever liked The Simpsons you may well get R&M.

Suranne Jones, what an amazing actress she is. Love to watch her.

Also love to watch Jodie Comer acting too..she's amazing as well.

My daughter likes Jodie Coma...she watched her perform live at the London theatre production ''Prima Facie''
