Now this is how it's done. No arrests, tickets, citations or court. The citizen simply challenges the interogating officer to a fist fight, and justice prevails.

Irony of the shooter. The very thing that provokes him into commiting such violence... let's say the 'state' and/or some of its institutions, is actually strengthened further by the event's occurrence. the state is now more obligated to take radical measures against the possiblity of this happening again... or at least as often. The state, as a result, becomes even more authoritarian than it was prior to the shooting, in having to deal with an unacceptable frequency of mass killings in amnerika recently.

Officials are admitting now that the door should have been breached much sooner.

Result; more aggressive police. Taught to be aggressive and never let this happen again. Incidentally quite in conflict with the current attitude that cops need to chill (due to all the media attention blm nonsense).

I would also like to add to the record of irony the fact that in a state most adamant about gun rights, law enforcement responds so poorly to a shooter situation.

Like any other state but Texas. a Texas incident should in spirit include a degree of overkill and resemble in some respect the Waco incident. Rangers shoulda stormed that building like there was a major cartel drug lord in there. Unbelievably poor performance. the media is in a frenzy.

"Some think inequality is no big deal, but the super rich put their money into property (as an ‘investment’, not as a home); that has forced a rise in property prices around the world, particularly in the ‘developed economies’, which is why so many there can’t afford to buy a house or afford the rent." - Rosa 'the red' Lichtenstein

Now hold on you're looking at this wrongly. Lol you see the communist party slogan 'inequality' and a red flag goes up.

Inequality of class is the problem there, not the inequality of personality, talent or even wealth. It's the fact that an (the most?) essential kind of property - a dwelling - can be made so unnecessarily expensive (relative to the costs to produce it) when real estate and housing production is monopolized by private property owners.

Okay, what if we kept the soft-capitalism of the western world but made second party private ownership of occupied dwellings illegal.

Second party meaning, you don't live there, but you own it and rent it.

Only the occupants could own the dwelling. And any sale of it would be to the state; you'd be moved into another dwelling you could afford while the state appropriated your old dwelling for the next occupancy. And so on and so on.

And check this out. Unless you were a real estate agent or a multimillionaire, you'd notice nothing different other than the fact that you aren't slave to an outrageous mortgage or monthly rent anymore, you got more money in your pocket, and 1984 is still just a work of fiction.

"When atoms move straight down through the void by their own weight, they deflect a bit in space at a quite uncertain time and in uncertain places, just enough that you could say that their motion has changed. But if they were not in the habit of swerving, they would all fall straight down through the depths of the void, like drops of rain, and no collision would occur, nor would any blow be produced among the atoms. In that case, nature would never have produced anything." - Lucretius the Ludicrous

Lol he's thinking there's a center point toward which every atom would fall. But if the universe has no boundary, there is no center point. There may be many individual points of gravitational force produced by bodies in space, but this would pull atoms in different directions.

The atoms swerve but not as an alternative to moving downward in a straight line. That wouldn't happen anyway cuz there is no middle of the universe.

"they would all fall straight down through the depths of the void, like drops of rain, and no collision would occur"

You see what he did there tho. He forgot that there is no definite 'down', or any direction for that matter, in a boundless void.

He wuz right, him and E, but for the wrong reasons.

Republicans don't complain about already existing laws and regulations concerning gun ownership and use, so why are they complaining now about possible new ones?

There are countless ways the government today exercises it's authority in ways government did not when the founding pops wrote the constitution, you know. And yet you aren't gathering in the streets with guns to protest that.

Why isn't fox and hannity and beck and savage on the radio and TV railing against the illegalization of machine guns for ordinary citizens?

Many folks -- not just repubs -- do complain about any legislation (not just gun legislation) that hobbles a right to property. And many folks -- in increasing numbers -- have stopped complainin' and, very quietly, have begun to scoff the law.
There are countless ways the government today exercises it's authority in ways government did not when the founding pops wrote the constitution, you know. And yet you aren't gathering in the streets with guns to protest that.
The folks we're talkin' about here work: they don't have the time, or the subsidizin', to go piss away time in orchestrated marches. And: as they aren't approved by TPTB, or the propaganda machine servin' TPTB, such tomfoolery wouidn't profit 'em.
Why isn't fox and hannity and beck and savage on the radio and TV railing against the illegalization of machine guns for ordinary citizens?
Who gives a shit? Their day is done: they're recognized for what they are.

Yes but observe the historical dynamic as societies develop, Henry. We see that larger more complex organizations of human beings necessarily involve contracts in the form of laws, and that as history progresses, more and more laws come into existence - depending on the demands of the society - that the people adapt to. It's that constant involuntary acclimatization of the people to new forms and modes of government that are always originally thought of as over restrictive.

Eventually whole societies come to accept norms that were one time unthinkable... while complaining and protesting about new laws possibly coming into existence. And the process repeats for the next generation.

It should be simple enough. Congress writes a bill that can be explained to anyone eligible to vote. They read the bill and cast their vote. If more people say '21 to buy guns, and no more semi-automatic short barrel high capacity rifles' than not, the law gets passed.

Democracy is not only easy, but it can be fun too.

Don't care what the finer clay sez (and neither do the folks who'll sell my 15 year old his first AR [with the extended magazine]).

He didn't create the natural dynamic. He identified it. Recognized it. Perceived it. It was a threefer.

However, according to a random fact check, he never said it.
