Day 2.

So slept the night in the car at spuds road house - just about out of fuel and their pumps\station are closed. Big car park where trucks\campers etc can pull in - near turn off to Roxby Downs and Woomera rocket test sites.

Just refuelled. Alice is 1050km away.

V. Long rabbit hole it seems. Will post pics soon, battery on ph sayin no. :D

Woke up and eventually my best mate turned up wondering where breakfast is!

Day 3. About to watch sunrise here in Alice, then heading to Yulara for beers with some Pitjinjara fellas that i rescued. They had run out of fuel 130km from Cooper Pedy, so i drove on to CP got jerry-can and drove back to help. 260km i bloody drove!!

They are going to teach me about Uluru, what it means to them and their culture. Bought 3 painting from a relative of theirs, dirt cheap, i just happened to have some cash in my wallet from 3 car trips returning beer cans to the depot at 10c per can.

I followed them to Cooper Pedy and one the lads was called Timmy - it was obvious he English was a second language, but out of the 3 of them, he was the most interested in chatting. They said the older one was a park ranger and the other was his grandson Tex. Tex took my mob to call me tomorrow to have a beer with them at Yulara - basically Uluru Resort town - as I have decided to continue on to Alice Springs.

Donnie - just left Spuds about to continue north - avg speed 160km\hr

Pinjara boy - at turn off to Uluru (Lasseters Hwy) - I bought art from his grandmother. About to continue to Alice

Desert ta - - - desideratum

GO PLACIDLY and peer amid the dunes of man as they seek rainbows of fortune from within the arid 'nothing' that beige men would have deserted as the original inhabitants call kupa-piti (white man in a hole) Coober Pedy.

Pyramids left where Rainbows were plucked from the Earth.

Three car loads of Coopers Ale cans = atto capable of buying some art (about 1000km away) - no idea cash is important to Pitjinjara - one would think they would have eftpos - lol

So on the way back from NT me n Donnie pulled in to a spot I had spotted on the way up - I thought - I could walk up there.

Well, we got up to the ridge and there was a cave - where Kangaroos sheltered - cos there was poop everywhere - I don't think it was rabbits - tho - that is what a roo is - a rabbit on steroids.

So...what does one do when one is in a cave in the middle of the land of Oz?

One leaves a piece of paper with ones phone number on it under a rock - and then a 50 cent piece to point out the bloody piece of paper hoping someone that might make it up the ridge will notice it B4 the ROOS eat my fukin number, oh well.

I'll let U know if someone eventually calls me B-Cause of that C_ave.

...if Skippy calls me I will be really pissed off. I'm all for equal rights but those roos can carry ipads, phones, laptops, differential gear boxes - they are ***ts just cos God gave em extra storage spots.

Photographs fall way too short to capture the majesty of Uluru. I was brought to tears more than once. Knowing this spinning rock we call home is part of 'ITS' creation - to me it felt far more sacred than any Cathedral built by man – this was God’s statement in the land of Oz – a throbbing heart at the centre of this vast beautiful land. Your mind drifts off to those that envisioned the stories, the people of the dreamtime that survived out there – untouched for aeons by any other ‘civilisation’ – truly an amazing spectacle bursting up into the firmament from a flat arid land where these wonderful men and women used their knowledge to survive and thrive.

To say I was moved is an understatement. If ever there is a sacred place that people of this Earth should make a pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime – Uluru is it.

EVERY photo fails to capture the essence of what IT IS.

ya, and desperate white fellas used to try and shag those... then they found the locals (the other ones)..thank God.
I don't think they would get far with the males. I didn't realise male kangaroos were so huge and muscled like body builders.
