Irish Pub

Post by duszek »

There was a nice neighbour close by
whose presence felt natural, that´s why
he was never a bother
and I felt in green clover
when his face would appear in the sky.

How about having a good time on this thread ?
While waiting for the plague to pass.

A limerick a day keeps depression away, I would say.
Because different parts of brain are being used when we try to select words for a little poem and to keep a certain rhythm.

All well-intentioned people are welcome to contribute something uplifting.

There was a plague that was roaming at large
and some people tried to hide on a barge.
Then they saw the bargee
and they asked for some tea
but he served them milk, muffins and marge.

A good recording a day keeps misery away.

There was a stranger who preferred to let go
of acquaintance he considered a foe.
A quaint miser was much
not to argue as such
but to look at from above and below.

What is magical about limericks is that you compose rhyming words and then try to find some sense in them. It can be very intellectually challenging.

I own the Great Australian Book of Limericks
I admit I have never looked a word in it
And now that I do
...i feel like a spew
..so have some but return to the pew.

There once was a man who said, God
Must think it exceedingly odd
If he finds that this tree
Continues to be
When there's no one about in this quad.

REPLY:

Dear Sir, Your astonishment's odd.
I am always about in the quad:
And that's why the tree
Will continue to be,
Since observed by, Yours faithfully, God.

Since this is PHN:-

A philosopher once, Bishop Berkeley,
Remarked metaphysically, darkly,
'Half what we see
Can't possibly be
And the other half's rather unlarkly!'

There was an old man from ‘Bama
Who had not yet learned the piana.
So before very long
He’d break out in song
Crying his tears for Suzanna.

and so lets talk about Brexit - the huge dump on the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. where Ireland was united in citizenship (NI UK citizens given the right to be also Irish citizens. and the right - at any time via the NI parlement to allow a reforendum to join the RoI - and so if the majority in NI vote to leave the UYK, they join the RoI - and Ireland beceomes one nation politically.

now we have Brexit. so the options limit themselves.

options:

1. Build the wall - rebuild. like 20-50 yrs ago (can be done in theory, but does England have the ball to make it so as it used to be? - i doubt it)
2. hold the NI reforendum, and most likely result is England lossing her NI holdings - so goodbye NI.
3. in the unlikely vote to not leave the UK via the norther ireland via the reforendum, see num 1 above - build the wall. expect the trubles as before.

there is much parallel bet England and Ireland as there is with Israel and her WestBank.

I'm just a dumb american, others here like Foghornleghorn and ATT know about this history more them me.

i welcoeme posts by them and other Brits/Iriish -educating me on this.

Atto is holding a forum at randsome.
It's log_ic that he demands them.
They hold in fright,
he though that they might,
and so atto pushes buttons to grant some.

Some good solution needs to be found somehow.
I don´t have one but if well-intentioned people relax and forward peace maybe a solution will occurr to someone.

In the sun a young woman was basking.
She had such delights for the asking.
But to avoid litigation
And promote mitigation
She made a point to be masking.

There was young grifter from Scranton

A bully whose greed was wanton

He twisted the truth for wealth

And when his mind lost its health

He found that his integrity was gone.

There was an old nudist who wore

Only his crocks and his charm at the shore

Wearing a clunker-salesman smile

He pranced about the pool for awhile

So reluctant bodyguards could see more.
