Re: What music are you listening to?
For being old folks you listen to the strangest music man.
That American Woman cover was horrible, so it would only be a good song if the band meant it to be horrible. If they thought how they covered it sounded good, it is certainly horrible. If they thought how they covered it was horrible, then it's good... or at least tolerable. Am I making any sense?
Here we have to consider the artist's intentions as much as his product. Something that bad (the song) only qualifies as art if it's supposed to be bad.

This is probably the jamminest live version available. Lol at Frank's soloing and I agree with Steve Vai. Frank's no virtuoso shredder but his familiarity and use of certain modes and scales gives him enough room to pull off those little licks and riffs he's so good at. He stays within a limited space, a zone, but in that space does some wicked shit on guitar.

Remember Maia? ILP? Remember our exchange involving that science fiction machine where you get in one pod and I get in another and I am able to hear the American Woman cover as you do and you hear it as I do?promethean75 wrote: ↑Tue May 31, 2022 8:06 pm

Well, until they invent it, we're stuck accepting the fact that listening to music is, by and large, "a profoundly problematic subjective experience rooted existentially in dasein".
Like listening to Frank Zappa.
Or, in terms of music appreciation, are you one of them...objectivists?!!
