It appears that the Muses have abandoned me on Al Jazeera (deserted).

woah hold up. do we have a fregean sense and reference thing going on here? maybe not frege becuz i hardly understand him, but it's some kind of identify thing of the signifier or something. or maybe it's not even that. look here's my deal. Holdsworth wuz also young at the time, but i wanted only to express that shawn wuz young. yet in doing so, in drawing emphasis on that point by excluding Holdsworth from the person I'm talking about, i have to say 'shawn not Holdsworth', which is not true... and yet if suffices to make meaningful my intention to denote shawns age in my statement. How can something not true show what I want to be known, that Shawn wuz young?
wtf is going on here? or am i just stoned?

Re: What music are you listening to?
my biggest objection would be how long their live songs always were (Lane and Hellborg with whatever drummer they're with) and how that meant that you'd have to go looking for scattered good parts throughout a twenty minute period. or a better way to say it is, the good parts can be so good they could stand alone... but instead they're nestled somewhere in a very long song. like this 'serpents and pigs' song i re-discovered last week. i actually heard it before more than 20 years ago and didn't remember I had until that change at 1:00 when they go into that bluesy segue. i remember not liking that at all 20 years ago lol. I mean not with the beginning part; it has a completely different chemistry and feel and isn't working.
but all great progressive bands do that shit; play a really cool riff but not for long before u go to a change. such that the main melody becomes inferior to the brief but superior point in the song... what should have been its own feature, it's own groove. the serpents and pigs is a shining example. the very beginning, and at 4:11 below.
btw Lane's being a p**** @ 2:57

This tune also applies to pushing a 16 ton rock up a hill, or unloading freight on the night shift.
SIXTEEN TONS

Change a few lyrics and this tune could become an anthem for the slave class created by Brandon's open border policy.

Lol at this combo. Hellborg, Buckethead and Shrieve (a drummer for Santana).
