I suggested that? I asked you what you would do if your country was invaded by a foreign army.
vegetariantaxidermy wrote: Mon Nov 12, 2018 8:45 pm How many world wars would there have been since WW11 if we had one every time the US invaded a country? Hmm?
You don't really know what you are arguing for. Do you? At first you condemn the USA for invading other countries, now you are happy that nobody jumped to the invaded countries' rescue because it would start a world war.
It's not a school playground. I'm saying that wars are never about what the grey masses think they are about.
Not 'happy', just realistic. You seem to think world wars are justified if one country invades another, therefore you would be quite happy with a free-for-all after each of the US' many invasions.
My country has already been invaded, at the invitation of a 'neolibturd' self-serving, American dick-sucking corrupt Govt. It would make no difference, the outcome is the same. I'm the least patriotic person on the planet. I like my home, but there are too many wankers and morons for me to feel any particular loyalty towards it. Why would I like someone who voted for a facist neo-liberal arsewipe not just once, but several times over? It's a place to live, but it has no particular identity any more. I certainly wouldn't kill or die for it. Fuck politicians. Old veterans (who seem to love war so much) and politicians should be the first to go and fight out their stupid squabbles--in a field somewhere, and leave young people alone.

Until it gets invaded and your house ends up being the front line. Then it wouldn't be a "place to live" anymore.

FFS. And aliens might turn our flora into savage beasts that devour everything in their paths. The US is always attacking someone (generally when it assumes they are too weak to fight back). We are supposedly living in a 'civilised' world. I don't quake in fear at the thought that Australia is going to come and murder us all in our beds. It wouldn't be in its interests to do that, and I'm pretty sure it would consider us more of a liability than anything else. Now countries simply buy other countries, rather than going to the messy bother of taking them by force (empires are so 'yesterday' darling).

No, many old veterans abhor war. I’m an old veteran and a pacifist.

When I was sent to the War in Viet Nam, or the American Invasion, depending on which side you were on, I never met anyone who wanted to be in a war.

I met over 500 combat infantrymen during my year in the war. Only one wanted to be there, and he was diagnosed as psychotic.

Do I really need to spell it out? If, as you say, none of those people wanted to go, then there wouldn't be a heck of a lot politicians could do about it if they all refused. And those Iraq and Syria murderers (the US and its little bitches) are all volunteers. They get paid.
As a matter of fact war is a lot safer for invading soldiers than it is for ordinary citizens. Stands to reason.
I wonder how many 'My Lais' went unreported and undocumented.

For people who 'don't want to be there' these thugs sure do seem to be having a whale of a time. All that grinning and yee hawing that American soldiers carry on with, you would think they are having the time of their lives (and they are).

The YT vids truly made me feel nauseated. Those marines appeared to be psychotic sadists and volunteers as well. I hope they are not representative of other Americans, but I have no evidence of that. Nauseated again.

In 1969, I found only 1 soldier who liked fighting. He was sent home as a psych case. The rest of my batallion consisted of people who were forced to be there either by conscription or by threat of losing their pension. Refusals faced time in a stockade or jail (q.v. Cassius Clay/Muhammed Ali).

Still feeling physically ill over the YT links. Going to be crying soon. It is possible that the incidence of cold-hearted killers has increased among young adult Americans. Again, I have no data. Feeling faint. Very nauseated. Beginning to regret my OP.

BTW my claim was that there are old veterans who didn't enjoy being in a war. Your videos are powerful but only tangentially relevant to my claim at best.

A rational person might conclude that going to jail is better than going to war; and that losing your pension is better than losing your life.

I can't fathom the kind of cost-benefit analysis one would do to have to fold to such bully tactics.

You might be right there, but obviously if everyone refuses to go then there is nothing much anyone can do about that.
You don't have conscription now. ALL of those ME arseholes are there because they want to be there. Iraqis had to deal with vicious British and American mercenaries from private firms like Blackwater--the most vile filth imaginable.
I heard they gave the Vietnam soldiers LSD. It was unforgiveable what the US did to Vietnam--massacred its people, destroyed its natural environment...

No LSD in Vietnam. It was used in an experiment Stateside (may have been Ft. Meade, Maryland). In Viet Nam we just drank beer and smoked pot on our days off.

Another option was to move to Canada. Many chose this route.
