Surely, more than one person, place or thing can be a sign. For example, war zones can be a sign of our times. Internet porn could be a sign of the times, as well as world leaders and nuclear arms, swastikas and walls, ex-pats afloat on the Mediterranean or The Bachelorette.

School shootings could be a sign of the times. Instagram could be a sign of the times. Discoveries in outer space. Mega-malls. Terrorism. #me too. Fake News. The collapse of civility. LGBTQ. Global warming. Gamers. Rap music. Silicon Valley. et al, et al.

In terms of age of woman vis a vis length of skirt: hormone levels are higher in younger women (13+) and their judgement is less keen. So they advertise, to attract the best possible male they can harness.

As women age, some of them anyway, the selection criteria for mates start to change.

A lot of women forego selection criteria after they get married AND have kids.

All of these may influence skirt length, cleavage depth, assonance rhymes, and keeping abreast with the news.

To this day science has not been able to establish what makes a woman attractive. There are general rules, but ultimately there are exceptions to each rule.

I, for one, like older women. When I was 4, I dated a 5-year-old. Between 28 and 55, I dated a woman 23 years older. Now I am dating a 74-year-old, myself being a benign 64.

My brother is conventional, he likes younger women, particularly his wife, whom he has loved relentlessly for 40 years now. His preference is for soft skin, slim build, and having two heads. My father loved my mom, who was short, squat and frumpy; when she passed away, he married a blonde bombshell. Mom was older than him, the second wife, 10 years younger.
