I'm cheap too!!!!!!

I like free (open source if i can find to firstmost) software.

used to download my usual "Free" software - the usual 10 or so since 10-15 yrs ago.

stuff like FileZilla, Gimp, inkscape, CDex, xmplayer, smplayer, impburn...............then about 5 yrs ago 1/2 of "my faithful usual programs" started making jump through hoops to NOT install all that other CRAP (Russian/Eastern European shit - some thing (forget the name of - a "Google" like ad-search engine that "fixed my homepage" to them after i installed imgburn (imgburn is cancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - but dammit it is the only decent CD/DVD/Bluray burner software out there - all alternatives suck!!!!!!!!!).

then i disscovered ninite and never looked back.

I only hope and pray ninite remains around so i can install my usual 10 "Free" programs on the next computer i will built this summer.

I rem now "Condiut" was the POS that infected my PC after i told IMGburn to NOT install 2 yrs ago.

had to format my fking whole PC hardrive and reinstall from ground up.

then used ninite to install IMburn (and the other 10 or so programs) with peace of mind.

and it worked!

no infection with crapware.

Well, that's a bit more of conjecture. What the initial PRISM leak confirmed is that they obtain certain information from your ISP. It didn't mention a phone provider, as far as I know. But as I said, of course they can still obtain your phone records.

Again though, having the power to know something =/= using that power. Maybe bob's suspicious google search on 'how to build a bomb' is technically in the NSA database, but it's not to say it's been looked at by an NSA employee.
how much privacy do you think you have from the government? Or from Google? Google keeps a permanent record of every search you have posted on the net. Now, how much information about you does Google now have? Every porn search? Everything is all there.
I think we still have a lot of privacy, by human incompetency. You'd have more if you had something like a VPN to secure a bit of your information. But I say we have a lot of privacy, because a government agency with around 40,000 employee doesn't have the capacity to look through even a small fraction of the traffic that they would be obtaining. And it wouldn't even be that many employees who have clearance to view such information.

As far as the porn data, well if you're actually using the google search engine to look for all your porn directly, then yeah google is obtaining that information. If you're using google to look for a single porn site, then they just have the ability to know that you looked for that single porn site. As soon as you're on that porn site, they can't what you're looking for. Of course your ISP does have that information (assuming the site isn't encrypted) but it's not to say anyone who works for your ISP is looking at it. Companies like Comcast specifically agree to not let their employees do just that, but they no longer have to agree not to sell your information, so it's a bit of a catch 22.

I realize you clarify, but that statement could be a bit misleading to some people. What is not recorded by your phone provider, is the actual conversation, and there are technological limitations for why it's not.

Not that I'm trying to defend government spying, but some people get carried away from the real picture. I never try to give the US government too much credit.

Appreciate the robust responses to this thread. There is so much here.

Especially the last poster. So many good opinions!

In one of your posts you mentioned Amazon.

Amazon is AMAZING! - SO EASY TO ORDER. So clear. Well designed. So convenient - with the quick free shipping! AMAZING!!!

...and to the other poster, I use the Brave browser, a natively ad-less web browser created by the co-founder of Mozilla, because it supports cryptocurrencies.

It tickles me to be able to not only introduce the concept of cryptocurrencies to you and to ALL ACTIVE MEMBERS here but to initially expose you to the future ability to actually benefit from doing what all of us here probably naturally do anyway. - Surf the web.

I know it's an amazing new concept but here is what I referred to above. We will soon, by using Basic Attention Tokens - BAT on the Brave Browser to actually earn from browsing the net!

Good luck to everyone here. I love you all. It's a GREAT TIME to witness what is happening here on this rock.

Take a look at this forum as it's about the cleanest you will find with respect to ads. It's funded from the profits made from the Philosophy Now magazine so it's the subscribers to the mag that allow all the interweeble freeloaders to post their nonsense here. Personally I think it ought to be changed to be only accessible to subscribers to the mag but I guess its too complicated a process to bother with. So if you wish to support this forum then subscribe to the magazine, its a very reasonably priced bi-monthly publication.
i joined both without investigating the "eula" of either forum.

It's not 'ad-less' is it as it's designed as an advertising platform.

Don't want to appear as if I am spiking the football in the endzone but I'm fine with EXACTLY what I have stated here in regards to the Brave Browser and in reference to Basic Attention Tokens.

Can't really understand what you are swinging at but if the points you attempt to make above work for you - I'm fine with that.

As to what individuals know & when, I have to share a perception I have been exposed to rather early-on in relation to crypto;

Cryptocurrency is a dynamic, bold, developing asset instrument that is part of the Third Industrial Revolution that I would have never imagined would take place in my lifetime.

Having said that, I have become keenly aware of the various reactions that all of us have when initially exposed to the digital cryptocurrency asset class.

I am aware of an individual's intuition. Cryptocurrency exposes one's intuition.

Don't want to say anything more than that but, there it is.

This, in one way, connects me to my intuition, philosophy, & cryptocurrency.

Delusional as ever.

Where did you plagiarise this from?

Quite the little capitalist aren't you, what a change from the brave bold unionist.

What is more interesting than the cryptocurrencies is the blockchain technology that drives them. As far as them being a currency they have two serious problems in that they have a built in limited supply and you can't yet pay your taxes with them.
Having said that, I have become keenly aware of the various reactions that all of us have when initially exposed to the digital cryptocurrency asset class.

Quite honestly, in my ancient age of 63 I struggle to find new ways to keep myself connected and self-conscious.

A few years ago, desperately seeking to find ways to keep self-consciousness, I stumbled upon crypto & my life took an almost immediate change in outward interest.

Crypto found me when it was unbeknownst to everyone around me.

Found myself explaining blockchain, Bitcoin, and other related crypto topics.

What I noticed is the way individuals reacted to what I told them.

Some people took right to it. Others were slow in their interest. Some would invest. Others prefer to stand, for now, on the sidelines.

Still others reject this new digital asset class outright.

What I see, in myself & others, through the topic of blockchain, is intuition.

My intuition told me to jump right in. Both feet. No telling how this will end - but I'm in. For now.

I feel like my eyes are wide open & I am still alive inside. Still looking within. That is the most important thing to me everyday. Every minute.

Guess I'm rambling but, to the topic of this thread, I think cryptocurrency & blockchain will go a long way to solve the immediate problem of what I addressed in my original post here.

Facebook's customer base consists of a lot of racists, anti-Semites, and conspiracy-theorists. Platforms like Facebook can claim that they want to rid their platforms of such people, but that will never happen, because it would be unprofitable to do so. Social media is basically a safe haven for vile human garbage.
