Social media has made the world even smaller. Now we are like an over-populated rat's nest, constantly in each other's face. Remember when New York City was kinda cool because everyone was a little rude and bold to strangers? Now social media has made it that way world-wide-to any developed country. The boldness and rudeness spills over into the real world and everyone is easily offended and outspoken.

Then you have the social media parasites: the politicians and organizations who dangle their promises and wares and lies in front of all of us, hoping to glean money and power. They constantly parade their ideas, mind-destroying music and sex and the like. Social media is a bust.

Then you have the social aspect: people flaunting and hating and acting cool, being fools. Social media is a bust.

Sometimes we get to learn cool recipies and great tricks to do with everyday items and sometimes attend an event, but in the grand scheme of things, is it worth the rest of the heartaches social media causes?

Social media encourages anger and helplessness and hopelessness by constantly parading lies and truths and lies mixed with truth in our society. Things we can do nothing about. Why? Because there's too many problems presented every minute of the day which makes it impossible for us to get together and focus on making one actually better! Social media is a bust.

How about the kid-destroying Snapchat and Instagram? They are constantly flying profanity and nudes back and forth and the ripe old age of 12 or so. They get hooked on it. They become idiots and their lives are forever ruined. Social media is a bust.

Interesting, and I agree...write more about it.

It sterilizes men from action and women from emotion. Social media is life pornography. Narcissism raped insecurity and the bastard child was facebook.

The immediate manner of dealing with it, is strictly honest conversations like this one until the residual haunting of the ghost in the machine causes the machine to go mad and kill itself.

The philosophical concept of the ghost in the machine is strictly "honesty" about the absurdity of it.

The human condition observes the absurdity of the human condition, will social media (and further more AI) view itself as absurd also? We cannot say it is entirely human, nor not human, but rather a synthesis of man and technology no different than mixing iron and clay.

it isn't the media, it is the users of it

but we will evolve into the perfect citizens and utopia...

It's partially the media and partially the users. Once most users on a social-media platform become racist conspiracy-theorists, that social media platform will start banning people who oppose racism and conspiracy theories. That's because the owners of the platform need to protect their customer base. So, we have some positive feedback loops existing, which is based on easy-to-understand economics, which helps to spread hatred on social media.

Social media is like mind reading. Imagine being psychically connected to the entire world, unable to filter out the (much) bad or random thoughts. It's overwhelming, and unhealthy.
