Here's a great scene about contracts and self-worth.

Speaking of romantic comedies or dramas, has anyone produced a Muslim/Christian, Romeo and Juliet (type) movie yet?

"it costs money to save money" true most times.

not into "romance movies", and yes assuming as a Secular Humanist there are 20+ similar Farsi movies about romance (and indian Bollywood - crap to me, to that just me, i value the universal humanity condition - apu trillogy, central station etc.

we are all one in spirit and body, regardless of race, religious radical filth...........sadly............."sadly"?
being human transends ones sex, race or born religious indoctrination.

to it me does. others do not think so?, reply so we can discuss why tribe overides being human,

a short aside, my best friend is an evangelical christian, and he HATES 2001 - thinks it about evolution.

and you know what? it is! its about aliens aiding in accelorating the evolution of ages into man, and man into star-men.

he was a born philosoper - like me and why we've been best friends since childhood, but unlike me (atheist that affirms evolution) - he gets all knotted up when evolution is discussed, and so his personal rejection of evolution compels him to discount/disslike the movie!

I think thats silly myself, i have no prob affirming a christian movie if the movie is good.

but for some reason he simply refuses to appreciate 2001 even if it is about "Evolution".

lol
Imagine that HAL is saying this, before he started singing about Daisy.

Our time is finite.
Why not stay with your favourite, Dave?

That tall monolith is Reality.
See how ordered it is in form?

The monolith exists in consciousness, however it is invisible to perception until an entity acquires the mental and physical capacity to discover it.

That tall monolith casts a long shadow, all the way into the cave.
When the proto-humans touch reality, they step into the shadow of the monolith.
They live in the shadow that the monolith casts on the cave wall.

Do you notice how gentle the first proto-touching of the monolith?
Tentative, fearful, light, gentle.
All this is a tentative and natural tendency towards the unknown, so as not to risk the future of the species through some Darwin-award, senseless bravery.

Later in the movie, when the next species (Homo sapiens) contacts the monolith (reality), then the one who first makes contact steps out of the shadow of the monolith, just as his ancient ancestor stepped into the shadow on the cave wall that is duality, and into the eat or be-eaten consequences of living in that shadow.

The monolith is much like a Buddhist Terma.

That's all for now, Dave.

The touch.

The essence of religion subsumes all religions.

He doesn’t mention that the knocker uses the communal lobby for his dog’s toilet.

Genius actor: 2:08. From snarl to smile in an instant.

Conclusion: This is one of the most cynical movies ever made.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=acY9agpYZyI

Premise: This entire movie glamorizes the corruption of ethics and morality, ironically in Las Vegas.

Not even this movie could corrupt Clair de Lune.

I know of some of Buddism, and value most of what i know of it - i practice the mindset in vague ways, but not an expert in that Religion.

i confess ignorance in "Terma", but would welcome education about what that is Walker.

thanks for reply, enjoy "talking" with you Sir, and thanks for the reply. ;-).

A terma is a hidden treasure, to be revealed at the proper time.

There are numerous public links on the web about the details.

In the movie, the terma is revealed within the consciousness of a proto-human.
The proto-human has developed the capacity to access the terma within consciousness.
He shares his new knowledge at the water-hole.

The terma that was revealed in the movie is knowledge of the tool principle. Once revealed, the knowledge first manifests as a club. The movie then skips ahead past many more manifestations to the latest epitome of tool evolution. HAL.

yes the ape using the Zebra bone to kill the other trible member was a product of the monolith (the "terma" (i thank you for educating me of this term, i've not know of it, now i do, so thanks!)

per Hal - another Tool (is this the concept in the movie and the book? - i've not read the book, but in the movie Hal seems for "alive" than the humans - so the "tool" in the movie may be more Frank and Dave - again never read Clarke's book, where Hall my act less "alive" and less human - but in the movie "he" acts alive and not "artificially-simulated alive" (maybe the Kudrick changed that character for his movie?)

always felt sorry for HAL myself, shows appreciation of art, and offers too much pride/hubris (as most of us in the living realm to at times). of course if HAL was never conscious, but instead perfected artificial simulated consciousness, the programers get an A+ when their program (glorified toaster) refuses to be unplugged willingly.

;-).
