The man who designed the Saturn V rocket engines of Apollo 11 was Wernher von Braun who also designed the V2. Now America
would never have got to the moon in 1969 if it was not for him. They should have planted a German flag there to remember him
Werner was living in the US, not Germany.

Why did Werner choose America rather than any of those godforsaken European countries? And how long is it going to take the rest of the world to catch up with us, another 47 years?

Yep. Not at all 'patriotic'. Patriotism is for idiots and scoundrels, eh bob? And btw, wasn't you who said elections should be decided by polls?

His knowledge and expertise was first gained in Germany where he was born
And without this the Americans would not have been interested in him at all

He did not really have much choice in the matter. And the rest of the world has caught up
with you though nowadays is more of a collaborative effort with nations working together

As WWII drew to a close, the Red Army was advancing from the east and the Allies from the west. Knowing the game was up, Von Braun took advantage of the travel privileges afforded by his status, to flee towards the Allies, who he figured would treat him better. The lower ranking technicians didn't have the same rights and were obliged to stay near the rocket factories, which were mostly in the east to escape Allied bombing. As a result, the Americans gained the theoretical knowledge, while the Soviets got the infrastructure and technical skill to actually build rockets. With this advantage, the Soviets put a satellite into orbit and a man in space before the Americans.

But only Americans have landed a man on the moon, and we did it more than once. How many men have the other 200 countries combined landed on the moon? ZERO!!!

Indeed, it was the crowning achievement of German rocket technology.

Please, a single individual can't get a man to the moon, and a hell of a lot more than rocket technology is required to do it. Every other country on this planet has come up empty, and that sticks in your craw, doesn't it? I will give German technology credit for being able to design a sophisticated system that cheated on automobile emissions testing and cost VW billions of dollars and a loss of reputation throughout the world!

It's not patriotism, it's just a fact of life, get over it!

Russia (USSR) was the next closest, so that means it's the 'second greatest' nation on earth  You are such an unbelievably stupid little turd of a man.

Reverend Bob, it's insights like that which persuade me you really are divinely inspired. You're right, of course; thanks to Operation Paperclip, the Americans managed to seize over 1500 German rocket scientists and technicians.

Well, I'm not sure what other technology you would use, but 1500 German rocket scientists will do the trick.

No one else has bothered, to be honest. Outside the context of the Cold War, there's not really much point.
