A template for dialogues with Immanuel Can

Post by uwot »

Immanuel Can: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
Respondent: That's not what I believe.
IC: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
R: As I said; that's not what I believe.
IC: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
R: No; that really isn't the position I am trying to defend.
IC: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
R: Nor is anyone else.
IC: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
R: Well, yes; anyone who would try and defend such a view is on a hiding to nothing.
IC: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
R: Because, as you point out, it is clearly nonsense.
IC: Here's what you believe, and you're a fool to believe it.
R: As I said: that's not what I believe.

How many times the above is repeated depends on the patience of R. Immanuel Can will never tire of telling R that the hopeless argument he ascribes to R, is the one that R holds. Having gone through the cycle myself a few times, I am more convinced than ever that the god of Immanuel Can, if it exists, is either cruel or inept, for furnishing his representative on this forum with such inadequate faculties.

He's what I consider a "telemarketing script" poster.

Not completely repetitive as you point out.
I got my share of those  additions. Surely that adds validity to the continued assertions.

Hum... Your "complaint" seems interesting, and confirm the few I saw.

I just saw some of his post, and all I remarked, is that he inserts himself in others dialogue. Depending on which forum, this attitude may seem as being offensive, so forbidden.

I guess our current forum accept it, in thinking that it will only add to the discussion.

-But I agree with Terrapin Station, too: It is not recommended to state such a publican complaint; why? Because it would only add oil on fire. Normally, in case of such an unadapted behavior, you should be in the ability to report one of this message (in which case, you'll have the opportunity to mention why you are doing this report), or even maybe, if it is not about a unique message, but several, you may have an option on your view of his profile, too; (but I did not searched this one, yet).

Indeed; just as the go faster tape on my handlebars made my pushbike quicker. Immanuel Can insists that the version of a belief that someone has to defend is one of his choosing. Like many people, he creates his own narrative that accords with his personal wish list, and cannot believe that something which 'makes sense' may not be true.
