Is Biden right to refuse to rule out Ukraine in NATO

Post by Sculptor »

The sticking point in the build up is that Russia does not want NATO to expand ever eastwards.
Biden refuses to rule out The Ukraine as a candidate, and so the brinkmanship goes on.

Isn't it up to Ukraine itself to decide whether it wants to be a part of western culture as opposed to eastern culture?
Or does the President of America have the final say in who can join NATO?

Seems like an endless game of tug of war. Ukraine gained independence from Russia and now Russia wants to take the country back. It's so confusing.

The wrong path has led to the wrong place. Too much expansion of NATO was sure to lead to problems. What country would want around thirty united countries pointing their missiles at them, not to mention yet another, right on the doorstep. So yes, I do have a bit of sympathy with Russia's position, but if it wasn't such a kleptocratic, authoritarian bully maybe earlier talks and better diplomacy would have resulted in them having more of what they want well before now. 🤔

They should get Trump to rally the forces and build a big wall like they did to stop the Mexicans.

Trump was amazing, he really thought his cuntry was so shit, that with a lot of cunts that supported him he could make his ego great again.

The only reason NATO exists is as a mechanism to combat communism. The very existence of NATO is old thinking.
Ukraine was part of the Soviet Union for a long time and many ethnic Russians live there. They are under attack from the new right wing nationalists of Ukraine.
Does Russia simply leave them to the bloodbath?
The big question in my mind is what the fuck has it got to do with Biden??

There is no wall to stop the Mexicans. There is a small section of wall less than a mile long. That is Trump's legacy.

It's always worth looking at both sides.
When the Cuban Missile Crisis was in full swing, everyone rallied behind Kennedy, and his horror at having milliles in America's "backyard".
But what did not get so much news coverage is the missiles that the US had just planted in Turkey - Russia's back yard.

Krustchev was smart - in the agreement to withdraw his missiles from Cuba, America quietly withdrew the missiles from Turkey.

I wonder what unseen and unreported machinations are affecting the situation at the moment??

I had no idea. I honestly thought it stood taller and longer than the great wall of china and that the Mexicans are still having to sell cocaine to pay for it.
