the actual definition of knowledge

Post by Advocate »

Knowledge is justified belief. You can have knowledge of false things, for instance:

If you project a hologram of a ship onto a body of water, i see a ship. The light entering my eyes is identical to the situation if a physical ship was there and it is the most likely explanation so i clearly have justified belief. That the ship is a hologram is information only available from a privileged outside perspective - with additional information. If knowledge was "justified true belief", you could never know if something was knowledge because it would be subject to implied future facts, and the word would be useless. Because all words have real meaning (even if that meaning is to illustrate that i'm wrong), JTB is bullshit.

Truth is knowledge that lasts over time. The more things replicate, the more certain we can be that they will continue to do so.
