Non-locality within a context of 'independent existence' may not be valid. Non-locality may merely be an indicator within the scope of physical reality (a contrast) which - by its apparent applicability - implies that on a fundamental level the origin of reality cannot be physical. As that would disprove determinism, it would provide prove for free will.
No, it just means that physical reality is non-local. It's compatible with determinism too (universal entanglement).
Wouldn't the concept existence imply the start of a pattern? If not, how can it be said to be of substance (i.e. meaningful)?

If non-locality can 'exist' by itself, it would render itself meaningless.

Non-locality means that everything in the universe is correlated (or at least some things are), beyond our human understanding of space and time.

Applicability of non-locality implies that whatever is perceived within that context does not have a begin.

Non-locality on the level of 'kind' (qualia) implies that reality itself has no begin, and thus, that determinism's causality cannot be true.

Beginning isn't necessary for determinism, the causal chain can form a loop, and be actually acausal. Which is the only logical picture of the world.
