Reality as Darwinistic utility

Do we see reality?

I thoght this a rather good way to look at perceptions of reality, until the guy mentions QM, and take the description into a realm which adds nothing to the idea of reality he presents.

As always, if we don't see reality as it is, more or less, we have no ground for judging whether anyone/any other species/etc. is seeing reality as it is.

And if we don't see reality as it is, we have no way of knowing whether we're even really seeing other species or anyone else at all.

So if we're going to be making statements like this, we're implying that we can indeed see reality more or less as it is (which doesn't mean we see "all of it," that it's not just from a particular reference frame, etc.), and if it's not the case that we've gone quickly extinct, then the hypothesis ("creatures that see reality as it is quickly go extinct") is falsified.

This is what the video linked to in the first post is talking about. So apparently the guy in the video, and the guy he's talking about, gave a shit. I'm just pointing out a problem with the argument as presented.

This sounds pretty Leibnitz monadish. Watching the video is pretty much like reading about those monads. And well, sounds just like mumbo jumbo to me. Those little awarenesses. Brains think and everything else just gets thrown this way or that by the laws of nature, and that’s pretty much it. Have seen or experienced nothing that suggests otherwise.

There is a massive plethora of this type of thing. People taking a complex scientific theory they do not really understand, (- because most scientists admit that most of the conclusions of the theory are incomplete in any event), and pretend to themsleves that this is the solution to every pet mystery they have been wrestling with, as they wrestle with their own conceptions of reality.
It's a bit like the flowering of astrology in the wake of Copurnicus and Newton when astrologers all declared that the failings of astology were due to the fact that they had it all backwards! rather than dumping astrology as they should they pushed on with the pretence with renewed faith - duh!
