OK PN Readers I have a challenge.
It is quite self evident that we all love books.
Now my reasoning is that there is a rationale to all this: a great professor, a wonderful Department, a helpful website.
So what is it like in the PN Bargain Department assuming Academics and Lay aspiring maybe talentless philosophers are buying books at cheapest possible price.
Now that is logical.
For the lay community things get mighty interesting.
1) how do you decide on a book? a website, department, professor/s, a book sellers, an argument, a thesis etc.
2) why would you choose one book over another?
3)what is your criteria for buying a particular set of books or books perhaps beyond the need for representative canon and key works which are also important for us lay philosophers talented or not.
I had better start off.
Book Finds PN Readers Finds at bargain prices Criteria!!!

No 1 Shields Blackwell Guide to Ancient Philosophy
Blackwell provenance, I had no idea Guides existed but now I know, Christopher Shields is a famous Oxford Prof who specialises in Ancient Philosphy. He is also featured on Philosophy Bites Nigel Warburton another well known philosophy big whig whose downloads on ITUNES are now 2m.
Amazon Uk place of choice, I know Amazon and I have 'trained' Amazon to get me what I want. AS a result I am happy to be an Associate. Amazon feels like safe place for academic books unlike intimidating academic publishers Routledge, Palgrave, Blackwell Wiley etc.
Further reasons: it's a bit of a textbook which is helpful if one is resorting to philosophy self teaching DIY it helps to have a reliable guide.

i have also trained Google which helps
I have also trained Google my search engine of choice. Google has offered me stuff in order to entice me. I must be an enigma. As you might expect a fair number of papers have got into my hands via the ever reliable Google Scholar which is no substitute for JSTOR, ATHENS etc

CLARIFICATION OF DEBATE
CAN WE GET THE BOOKS VIDEOS ETC WE WANT TO MAKE AND CONSTRUCT GOOD VALID PHILOSOPHICAL ARGUMENTS NATURALLY THIS PRESUMES A BIT OF DIY PEDAGOGY, BECAUSE UNLESS YOU ARE BLESSED AND HIGHLY FAVOURED AT UNIVERSITY YOUR ACCESS TO RESOURCES, PARTICULARLY OF QAULITY IS LIMITED, WHEN IT COMES TO GENERATING TOPICS ON THE FREESTYLE FORUMS OF PHILOSOPHY NOW WHICH ALSO HAVE VALUE.
