Porn = freedom

Not sure if this was saying that that's what I meant or whether it's a distinct post...anyway porn=result of lack of freedom to do anything else except seek cheap stimulation (they'd prefer it if we had to work an extra shift and spend money to do so)....religion=management of peasants and people with something to hide or repress.
Porn = a lack of freedom to have sex with whomever you want? Is that what you mean? What value is freedom that involves another person?

What causes porn addiction???
I haven't read all of this thread, so apologies if this has already been addressed.

The first question that comes to my mind is, do women become addicted to porn? Or is it an overwhelmingly male hobby?

What causes porn addiction???
Big breasted Japanese girls in knee-high socks, plaid skirts, who simper "ah ah ah ah" while making yum yum...that's what.

That seems like a reasonable theory!

But, the question still stands...

Do lesbians lust after big breasted Japanese girls in knee-high socks, and engage in endless hours of viewing them in porn form?

To what degree are women involved in viewing porn? I don't really know the answer, but suspect it's mostly men, maybe overwhelmingly men.

If true, then it seems we can rule out some of the theories above which seem to apply to humans in general, such as a "collection addiction".

If true, then it seems we're looking at something related to the biological differences between men and women?

Do we have any women left on this forum, or are we an exclusive men's club now?

If we're an an exclusive men's club, what does that mean? Men want big breasted Japanese girls in knee-high socks who are familiar with the writings of Aristotle?

Ooh, I think I do!

Addiction is very rare. How would you define addicted???
In my experience women tend to be more cerebral and less visual when it comes to sex.
I have know women addicted to particular men, regardless of how bad they are treated by them; regardless of how many times they have been to prison or even treated her children with contempt and mental violence.

Good question, don't know. I guess people who seek treatment have defined themselves as addicted. That's the best I can do.

Sounds right to me.

Yes, that's true of course.

I have an idea, but if I am wrong then tell me why.

Men like to be in control of things. Mr. Butlin used this as one of his main arguments and I have obeserved similiar things in my life. "Just checking" is how a chap explains his desire to know. And it reassures him tremendously to get explanations even if it is none of his business, strictly speaking.

So men who are a failure with women get themselves an illusion that they can control women and especially their sexual behaviour. They click a mouse and they get what they want.
This gives them profound satisfaction, apparently.
This "control" substitutes the lack of control in their real lives which makes them feel miserable.

Does that make sense ?

I don't think that would necessarily amount to an addiction.
There is an converse story though about men who like to be dominated; they tend to be in powerful professions and seem to crave the submissiveness as an antidote to their every day life.

The urge to procreate is an evolved reflex. Nature is not aware and so this adaptive behaviour that in most animals leads to sex, is nothing more that the ability to connect what you see with the simple act of ejaculation. The brain is evolved to repeat this event, the trait has no awareness that this fails to lead to reproduction, how could it?
So the reflex (that lonely child) urges us to seek out more of what made it happen in the first place.
Naked flesh arouses, sex acts arouse, and thus the cum moment; the prime directive - is associated with the visual image.

Let´s compare with a chocolate addiction, shall we ?
A woman eats chocolate in order to release serotonine and to feel happy.
She is too heavy and cannot go for a run in order to feel happy when serotonine is released by running.
So she gets her highs from chocolate only.

The chap who devours porn becomes more and more unable to attract a real woman in real life because he loses social skills. So he consumes more and more porn because that´s the only thing he has left.

A normal man should be repulsed by porn.
Men are not pigs, are they ?
So it is a mentally sick man who indulges in obscene things.
One day he will need male nurses around him, carrying a strait jacket and a bucket of tranquillizers.

It seems unlikely that all Porn addicts are sad and lonely people.
The sex drive of a woman is rarely the match of a man's. There are good evolutionary precedents for that. So it is highly likely that a man might be devoted to one woman and yet still have some need for a auto-erotic outlet.
But despite that addiction means something beyond that. It indicates a level of "self-abuse" that becomes problematic - otherwise you would not call it addiction. I would image that the sort of level of this addiction could never be satisfied by conventional sexual progress whatever ability the man had in attracting women.
