Indeed. Obama actually worked with a republican house and senate to make it law that trains such as those, hauling very dangerous chemicals, should have modern brakes in order to reduce the risk of derailment.

Sadly that law was hobbled by train industry middlemen before it even went to the floor for debate, so the chemicals in question didn't include the vinyls that recently got ignited in Ohio. Had the law stayed in effect, there's a decent chance that train would have had one additional safety feature as it would make business sense to have all your haulage carriages fitted out for crude rather than some subset.

Sadly that regulation was squashed by Trump as part of his effort to keep people like Walker on side. The next guy Walker votes for will be promising to abolish the EPA anyway though, so what real difference is one more death cloud full of cancer going to make?

There's plenty of laws. Plenty of regulations. For example, it's against the law to illegally enter the country.

Question:
Dear Lying, Lawbreaking Reader: “How many more of a country’s laws would you break after you broke the law to enter that country?”
When does an illegal migrant STOP qualifying for free city housing?
NY Post
https://nypost.com/2023/02/08/when-does ... y-housing/

What’s the endgame for New York City’s migrant madness?

Mayor Eric Adams just booked the entirety of “the world’s tallest Holiday Inn” — that’s almost 500 rooms — to house some of the 44,000-and-counting migrants who’ve landed here.

The burn rate of tax bucks to pay for this is obscene: At full capacity, the inn contract alone will cost some $10.5 billion through May 2024. (No wonder Adams recently implied the sky’s the limit on the crisis’ ultimate cost to the city).

For skeptics who say migrants can’t possibly fill it to the brim for that long — why not?

The migrants keep coming across the southern border, thanks to our president’s wave-them-in policy, and his State of the Union speech gave no hint of plans to change it.

Dealing with the tens of thousands of asylum claims by the migrants in Gotham alone will likely take years. Will they remain 100% dependent on the city and state for handouts that whole time?

If they plan to work, it will take at least six months for any “asylum seeker” to get a permit, and the feds show no sign of expediting the process as Adams demands. If they are given permits, will the city stop paying the hotel bills? How long does the largesse last?

And if they are found not to qualify for asylum, will they be deported? Will our “sanctuary city” allow it?

Plus, the wave hasn’t stopped landing. The Holiday Inn site is the sixth mega-shelter the city’s set up. At this rate, tourists will soon have nowhere to stay except Airbnb.
Handing migrants bus tickets north toward Canada alleviates part of the problem, but hardly enough.

The city’s migrant crisis is rapidly becoming migrant chaos. New Yorkers deserve at least a guess from their leaders on how it’s to end.

Are you done with the train derailment and now ready to return to a pet peeve?

Brandon’s getting trigger happy with a show of bravado, shooting down UFOs after allowing a Chinese surveillance balloon to leisurly drift over strategic US sites, coast to coast.

Smells bad. Smells really bad. Who’s making these decisions, the White House or the Pentagon?

The Leftist solution? Probably more regulations that will in some way enrich the the government and burden the people.

For example, in the future if not equipped with government-issued transponder, anything in the air could be shot down, so check your batteries if you can get them and make sure your pet duck is wearing one.

But seriously, lay off the ballooning for awhile until everyone knows about the transponders, if you can afford one. This will be some time after the politicians take an interest in the tech company’s IPO, to which they have dibs.

If ballooning is your trade, you face a challenge.

Aw, too bad. What's sad, but not surprising, is your ignorant gullibility and eagerness to spread lies about the Great Donald Trump. Here's the truth.

You should admit to the truth, but like a true minion you will keep looking for ways to twist the truth. Leftists are always convinced they can find some lie that will stick, although one has yet to be found that applies to The Don.

You should know by now that your vicious lies will get you nowhere with thinking folks.
Lying propagandists just never learn.

Sadly, they keep right on tryin' and lyin'. So very sad.

NTSB Chair Wallops Buttigieg for ‘Spreading Misinformation’ About Derailment
(misinformation that was for the ignorant minions to dutifully and eagerly repeat)
https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/r ... t-n1671562

On Thursday, Homendy tweeted that “anyone speculating about what happened, didn’t happen, or should’ve happened is misleading a suffering community – PLEASE STOP SPREADING MISINFORMATION. For example… Some are saying the ECP (electronically controlled pneumatic) brake rule, if implemented, would’ve prevented this derailment. FALSE – here’s why… The ECP braking rule would’ve applied ONLY to HIGH HAZARD FLAMMABLE TRAINS. The train that derailed in East Palestine was a MIXED FREIGHT TRAIN containing only 3 placarded Class 3 flammable liquids cars. This means even if the rule had gone into effect, this train wouldn’t have had ECP brakes.”

This directly contradicted Buttigieg’s claim and derailed the Blame-Trump train before it even got going. Was Buttigieg aware of the details that Homendy supplied before she tweeted them? No possible answer makes him look good. Either he knew that the brake rule wouldn’t have prevented the East Palestine derailment, but claimed that it would have anyway so as to make Trump appear responsible, or he didn’t know that the brake rule wouldn’t have prevented the derailment, in which case he is derelict in his duties as Transportation secretary. When Old Joe Biden’s handlers appointed him to this position, he should have made efforts to familiarize himself with all the relevant material he would need to know in order to perform his duties capably.

My interest is in how eagerly the uninformed, such as yourself poster boy, fill in the blanks with ignorance fed to them by The Party. Brings to mind Orwell's Animal Farm.

Obviously your only interest is Trump bashing, and thus you project the inverse of the truth, upon the truth. This is how ignorance has a way of bending perception of reality to fit the fantasy narrative for the ignorant who can't be bothered to properly use their God-given noggins.

Such folks are enamoured with Leftist propaganda outlets that are flying under the banner of the fourth estate, flying like big ol' Chinese balloons in the sky.

Obviously my only interest is the truth, given the consistency of my accurate assessments.

As they say, lol. Keeping looking for what tens of millions of $ could not uncover about one of the great presidents of USA (oosay oosay!).

The word is, the railroad company finangled hundreds of the cloud-affected folks into signing waivers of indemnity in exchange for help, and when they were caught red-handed blamed some error, some kind of a mistake. Uh huh.

Trump-bashers should hop on this one and find a way to blame Trump. Rest assured The Party is on the case.

This evidence illustrates that perception of deflection can in fact be a delusional projection of personal behavior that creates a cascade of self-reflective rather than reality-reflective suppositions, and then they pose as quasi-rhetorical questions posing as assertions.

I already mentioned that rail industry lobbyists had nobbled the bill to apply only to more dangerous loads, and I made a simple point about how businesses invest likely making that irrelevant.

So you probably ought to learn to read better. Trump had more than one option there, he could have made the rule that these brakes are required for all trains carrying ANY placarded Class 3 flammable liquids cars. Instead he cancelled the whole thing which is exactly what those lobbyists wanted.

Commentary: Sounds like something the Soviets would cook up against any political opposition to dear Leader, or in this case, to silence opposition to The Dear Party.

Sounds like a Putin move applied to US politics.
