Sculptor,

I certainly second the motion, the country was founded on some highly virtuous ideals, but they never really tried to live up to them all the while claiming to be the leader of virtue. It operates today as a global crime family with violence outright or covert violence with deniability in its parasitic economic colonization of weaker countries. Seeing that it is the only military superpower in the present its ambition has become global domination like the Nazi's effort at domination differing only in the method. Its adventures leave a bloody path across the globe and it's having great success at global domination, all the while accusing other nations of the behaviors it specializes in. Presently with its aggression, it is putting the entire earth in jepordy of nuclear armageddon, which is making American Christians have an orgasm---see da-book was right-lol!! Many Americans will find these claims to be offensive and untrue because basically they are ignorant of their own imperial history and ignorant even of what their government does in the present around the world. Even the power elite that run the show must realize that the empire is fading, that it like other empires has extended itself beyond a reasonable domain. In its death throws lets hope it does not take the whole world down with it.

The film is a bit of an odd choice in relation to the title of the thread since a number of the governments the US overthrew were not dictatorships. And to be clear, I am not saying that makes it ok, it just seemed like some other video would have been better as evidence, for which there is plenty. I would say that the US doesn't care about democracy. If a democratic government got in the way - often of corporate interests - then some method would be used to undermine or destroy that government. And the same would hold true if it was a dictatorship. The US is the enemy of what corporations consider the enemy. And Britain has tended of course to be the prime all for these actions: directly in the Gulf Wars, say, and indirectly all over the place. Must keep the feel of the old Empire in the air in certain circles. And, of course, the US hasn't been a democracy for a long time. You have to be approved by one of the major parties. Those parties will not approve any one who is not beholden to corporate interests. Corporate interests control the oversight over industry. The weild the largest lobbying (iow not democratic) power and a very significant power this is. They control what get researched and how and the media that distribute their take (iow even science and often especially science is more than merely tainted by bias). And the we could focus on the finance industry.....

The term "democracy" benefits from an enormous amount of ideological support. Media and school system promote it as the best political system or even the only one that would be acceptable. If that will eventually turn out not to be true, and I am quite sure it will, then you can correctly reverse the statement "The USA is the No.1 enemy of Democracy" into "Democracy is the No.1 enemy of The USA".
